Correct.

My info. is the Hawks are going to somewhat address the cap this summer. See the blog. Connect the dots.

Assuming that holds true and Crow is the odd man out, that fits the Scotty Bowman profile with not putting a lot of dollars into that position. Darling has shown stretches of being able to carry the load so maybe they lock him up at 3-3.5M for 3-4 years and gain cost certainty around that spot (assuming he takes that deal) with a cheap vet as the backup while they continue to groom someone in the minors.

So the question becomes, do you trade Crow before or after the draft and what do you try and get in return? I can't seem them doing something like that at the draft in Chicago with Crow being a popular core guy. I could also be completely wrong and that might be the splash they want to make??

The Hawks will get very little for Crow, because the trade is basically a "salary dump". We had to "sweeten the pot" to move other quality players in the past. That will happen with Crow. He has a NTC of some sort, which could also play hell in moving him.

So.....Bowman says and spins for all the grandstanders and all the Hawks media puppets how he won't make a trade.........or won't likely make a trade......yet why oh why is Vinnie and Forsling still down in Rockford? Could it be to bank........gasp.........additional cap space whenever, and wherever they can? And why would THAT be so important for a team up against the cap......I just can't figure it out.........

Truly amazing reading some posts of everyone in such STRONG belief the Hawks aren't making a trade because the John McDonough express told you it won't. Please.....don't buy everything he sells. An organization NOT afraid to pimp some BS Soup n Sandwich satire, yet on a serious note #LetsTalk the marketing machine made ZERO mention of it all day. What a joke.

The Avs need Dmen, what young Dmen could Chicago offer them? Hjalmarsson?

Hammer or even younger Forsling. Hammer is needed for our run THIS year. Moving him would be risky. Forsling would be the one I'd think the Avs would want. We haven nothing else much at Defense in terms of prospects. Pokka is our "#1 D" right now and I'd love to move him in a Duchene deal, but he's not that good and Sakic can't be that dumb.

Doesn't necessarily mean a trade will happen. Teams try to save cap space any way they can. If i'm not mistaken, Panarin will likely be receiving a substantial bonus (again) this season, which will be more dollars that hit us. Best to have as much space available as you can in order to minimize the amount of cap space carry-over into next season. ESPECIALLY seeing as Panarin is getting a nice pay raise.

Don't get me wrong, trades will and won't happen. Part of the unofficial GM job guide is to have them say "We won't be making any trades at the deadline". It's a game of poker.

Oduya would be a perfect fit if healthy.
- Dieselhead

Someone posted a video earlier this week of Oduya and Krugs in Mexico on vacay with their ladies. Oduya was pretty active on the beach and showed no signs of being injured. Oduya/Eaves package shouldn't cost too much. Habs will overpay for Sharp and they can have him.

Correct but as of now Panarin is outside the top 10 in scoring nixing the larger size of the bonus he got this year, that could hit next year.

Will he take off? Who knows.......but banking money for a team with a mantra of "one goal" to me signals a trade.

Just find it fascinating everyone who takes this organization's word as gospel.

Oh these rumors are false because Stan Bo said so.............

Ha! not sure if you're talking about me.
But I'm no one of consequence for the hawk organization.
I live in Wisconsin and just like to read the comments mostly.

Dang it, quotes didn't work, this is in response to Steve.

or....it could be Stan playing coy until the deadline because he knows Sakic is really interested in Hartman and he knows when to dangle the carrot

That, also, is possible.

Love the rumor updates JJ. Keep it up!!!!!

Wow. Hard to figure Stan stopping all chats regarding Duchene with the mention of Hartman. Personally, Hartman alone, Hartman and a 2nd or 3rd, Hartman and a lower end prospect. I would probably do. Duchene would be such an addition, a real GAME CHANGER.

It must be that Sakic wanted several other picks and parts in ADDITION to Hartman. If not, I just don't get it. Hartman has been impressive...Hartman MAY turn out to be a nice player in the long term. BUT....in NO WAY is Hartman the better player in your lineup for the next 2 months+

If Stan shut it down at the mere mention of Hartman......I am not happy....

Yea, never listen to anyone from front end says, and expect players to say something with the comment "it's a business" in it. You can pretty much create a book of responses for every player in the NHL that they can follow.

(on a completely unrelated note, i accidentally hit the flag on your comment instead of reply. )

Hawks and Dallas did talk this AM. Eaves, Oduya. Not sure if that's "and" or "or." No Sharp as of yet.

More coming.

From the Department of (not really) TinFoil Hats:

I have been warned many times in the past of Hawk employee "posters" who try to "astroturf" certain ideas/arguments on blogs—including this one. And that warning has come from at least two . . . Hawk/Wirtz Co. employees.

I think we have at least one in our midst these days, so keep your BS meters on.

I'm guessing it's Goalie 33. NOW we know why he hates the Bowmans so much -- he's really Bob Pulford!!

I agree, I cannot see Hjlamarsson ever being traded. A professional advanced analytics guy that i was talking to a little while ago had him listed as a huge outlier (on the good side) in his stats. Basically saying that his defensive capabilities are insanely good. His offensive capabilities are on the much lower end of the spectrum.

Based on what has been said and read on this board over the summer
I believe they tried to move Crawford at the draft last spring to Calgary and he nixed the deal. So we'll see what happens this time around.
