The elephant in the room remains # 33. For every good play he makes, there is a bad play. On the 2nd goal (Ekman-Larsson), he gave the puck right to OEL, and then makes a rather weak effort to get in the way of the shot. (Does he ever allow himself to get hit by the puck ?). On Pavelec's brilliant stick save, where the heck is # 33 ? He is so far out of position, that he is not even visible on the tv screen. Morrissey should get Norris trophy votes for playing as well as he has and having to cover for # 33 all of the time.

I agree 100%. If we could guarantee Trouba would stay and be the #1 defenseman, I'd gladly trade Buff before his value is gone. Trouble is who do we trade him to? Boston? Philly? Det? |

The only way I will get excited is if Maurice is gone. You want to talk about analytics then use those to take a look at his record.
As for Pavs. I was all in favor of bringing him back. He provides the experience and mentoring that Helly needs. Hutch is almost absolute bottom of the league. Possibly more importantly is that if Pavs plays at all well he is excellent trade bait as it does not really cost a team a lot at the trade deadline to grab him as a back up or insurance policy against an injury to a #1. Bring his value up. Maybe we get a 3rd or second rounder for him if he gets really hot. Down on the Moose we'd get nothing for him. Possibly there might be a team that was interested in him that wanted to see him play a few games first. You have to admit its a bit strange to have three goalies right now on the roster.
I also have to say that Frenchie's value is definitely on the rise. He's suddenly looked great again. Might even be worth a first rounder + for a team that sees long term value in him. |

1. I don't see the Jets recalling Pavelec as anything but a win win solution for the time being. Helle needs a break mentally. Hutch is for the Vegas draft requirement. The team played as if they had no confidence in their goalies. Pav comes up and made key saves when needed which H and H were not. Pav playing also only increases the opportunity of getting something for him. He is not the answer, but it is better to use him instead of trading for a mediocre goalie which is probably all thats available right now.
2. Give the Jets some credit when they get a win. They desperately needed a win and got it. Enjoy it for what it is.
3. The Jets were not predicted to make the playoffs this year and won't so that ship has sailed. Next year it's a must.
4. Have a separate web-site for those who hate Buff. Last year all but a few wanted him to re sign.
5. Checking team web sites around the league shows few fans like their own teams operations and or play. Except a franchise that hasn't won a cup since color film came into play. |

I still can't believe Chevy couldn't get a deal done to get Jakob Chychrun at 16th pick in this years draft. It still really bothers me. He was easily the steal of the draft and really should have gone about 8-10 picks higher.
I believe Arizona gave up their 20th and 53rd pick. The Datsyuk thing didn't cost Arizona a penny. Winnipeg had the cap room to easily do that part as well. Winnipeg traded their 22nd and 36th pick for 18th pick , Logan Stanley. The only reason I can think is that Chevy didn't like Chychrun becuase that deal should have been an easy one. Chychrun shoots left as well.
I promise you this that Chychrun will end up being the steal of that draft . I have no doubt he will be a superstar in the NHL. He's got it all.
Chevy.....you blew this one and quite frankly the Jets really could have used Chychrun in the third pairing this year instead of a wild gamble on Logan Stanley. |

you have no idea if Chevy tried to make this deal with Detroit or not. Detroit could have chose to do the deal with Arizona over Winnipeg, who knows, not you

it's funny how Jets fans pick on Jets D, I am no different and absolutely guilty of this but you can not throw a stone in this city and not find someone equally passionate about ripping anyone of our D!!! Morriesey may be the only exception this year but I have even read complaints about him.

so many moving parts - so many problems
.
I'm beginning to lose a grip on what needs to be addressed first ... seems to me the youngsters (with the exception of Laine and some nights, Ehlers, other nights, Troubs) aren't yet ready ... the vets who received new contracts aren't playing up to expectations ... the youngsters make the vets look slow and tired ... the goaltending is horrid ... our defensive breakdowns are horrid
.
Some say ownership isn't willing to invest ... others say the GM hasn't put the right parts together although he seems to do well at the draft table ... some say the coach has a .500 reputation and isn't the right guy for this mix of players ... others say when on the ice it's up to the players
.
What kills me is on some nights this season the Jets looks like a top tier team ... then they just sink into an AHL level squad
.
I sure the hell anin't breaking the bank to see many more games, live |

No. I don't have any idea. All as I know is if he did try to do a deal, he didn't do enough to get it done and it appears Arizona's offer was less. The 36th vs 59th pick being the key difference. If he didn't try to even do a deal then that is even worse. Bottom line is that it will prove to be a a major blunder either way.
Logan Stanley .....uggghh ! |

What the jets need to do is make a big trade for a big time NHL player. I think they should try to swing both Hamonic and Tavares out of the NYI.
Going back we could send them an A+ prospect in Kyle Connor, Jacob Trouba, Bryan Little and a lottery protected 1st rounder as part of the package going back.

you have to give up on John Taveras!!, he is a year away from being as UFA, if he decidses not to re-sign in New york it will soley be to decide where he gets to play and for max dollars. No way in hell is any team giving up a kings ransom for a pending UFA. |

There was a time last year where I really wanted to see that Hamonic trade happen. That was then. Now I see him as very injury prone. He has missed between 10 and 30 games every year of his career. Injured again this year . No thanks. |

...and Tavares. Seriously ? I like him , even had a beer with him as he frequents my golf club. However, Last I looked he would rank 5th on our team in points. A full 3 points back of Wheeler. He certainly would not be a value proposition as he would cost an arm and a leg. We already have four superstars or budding superstars on forwards. Some would argue Buff and could also be added to that list. Trouba not far behind.
We need a superstar goaile for a few years until Hellybucyk is ready....and a coach . |

I'd say anyone in the top 25 in scoring out of approximately 670 or so players qualifies as a superstar plus a few extra defencemen. So maybe the top 3%. For example, some would argue Buff and could also be added to that list. Trouba not far behind.
