Would trade Trouba for Lindholm in a heartbeat. Hell, I bet Winnipeg would even take on a problem contract and give up a prospect (not Roslovic) to get the deal done. |

Can't wait for Garth's next blog:
To BUF: Lindholm
To ANA: Ennis, Girgensons, 3rd round pick
Can't see a deal happening with Toronto. Maybe for Fowler, but not for Lindholm. Anaheim probably wouldn't even entertain an offer that didn't include Marner or Nylander. And those are non-starters for Toronto

There is just no way a Leafs/Ducks deal makes sense at all. Toronto is not giving up the young guys up front at all, and really the Ducks are going to want way too much as is. Add in if it's being discussed and leaked out, odds are Lou is either shutting it down for a while or not looking at all. He doesn't leak stuff out so if "sources" are saying things better odds are it ain't happening at all.
Could see the Winnipeg/Anaheim swap type deal though that might make sense and wind up working for both teams! |

The only way Ducks send 47 to Leafs is for Package that includes Nylander or Marner & Leafs aren't doing that - at least I can't see them doing that .... But hey stranger trades have happened so what do I know - |

I truly haven't got to see Lindholm play much, so I haven't formed my own opinion yet. So for those who have seen him play, what do you think the Leafs would truly have to give up to get him? Could things start with Kapanen + Gardiner plus or would a Marner/Nylander/lottery pick have to be involved? |

Yup that seems like a pretty accurate summary of the situation.

If Anaheim can't sign Lindholm, how are they going to sign Trouba. I can't see Anaheim motivated to do this at all.
In fact, the whole thing is noise. Lindholm will stay in Anaheim and Trouba in Winnipeg.

isn't anaheim in cap trouble? Are we not in the same situation as we are now if we trade trouba for lindholm? |

I'm pretty sure the problem is the Ducks don't have the cap to sign Lindholm to anything right now. If it was a matter of $500K (which has been reported), they could get the deal done. They just don't have the space.
I think the Ducks are just trying to move Stoner while Despres will probably go on LTIR.
Makes no sense to trade for Trouba (who isn't as good as Lindholm) because they still wouldn't be able to sign him anyway. |

The ducks are in cap hell. Trading Lindholm for Trouba does not solve anything if Trouba is looking for 5 million a year. The jets will need to take back some contract, but most of the ducks bad contracts have NTC or NMC.
Lindholm and Bernier for Trouba. Is really the only on that makes sense.
All the NMC that he ducks have is going to kill them in the expansion draft. I think the best thing for them to do is just trade Fowler for picks or prospects and sign Lindholm. If they trade for Trouba, they will need to protect him, Bieksa and then one of Vatanen or Fowler, and lose the other in the draft. They if decide to protect both, they will most likely lose Rakell in the draft. Giving Bieksa and Vermette NMCs should have got Murray fired.
I think they'll get more for Fowler now, then if they trade him after the season. As other teams will probably also be trying to trade players they can't protect and believe they will lose for nothing. |

I don't think anyone is taking Stoner, especially with another year on his contract and the cap not looking like it is going by much anymore. Teams were paying a premium to move bad contracts with more then one year left this past summer. Perhaps you include Stoner with Lindholm for Trouba. If you are looking to dump salary, the best bet is Fowler for picks or prospects, or Bernier as he only has this year left, and you would probably need to add a 2nd or 3rd rounder with him. |

I'm guessing they will get Bieksa to wave or they will buy him out before the expansion. Vermette has a weird NTC (not NMC) and I'm pretty sure it doesn't count during the expansion draft so I think Murray was specifically thinking about that (I remember reading that when it was signed).
Ducks will probably go 7/3 route (Lindholm, Vats, Fowler). I would actually be pretty upset to lose Manson, but that is what it is. |

I think moving Stoner will be tough, but it can be done. I feel like Carolina or NJ would take him along with a 1st for a 6th or 7th. (Ducks could even retain $1M if needed) That sucks for the Ducks, but could get it done and worth it to get Lindholm signed.
Before the season, I was all for moving Fowler, but he has played so well, I think you do whatever it takes to keep both Fowler and Lindholm now.
Even if that means Stoner, 1st for a 7th or Stoner, Montour for a 5th.
Bernier won't be moved. If the Gibson goes down (which is very possible) the Ducks don't have anybody else ready to carry the load. |

Yup, I knew in my bones Leaf Nation would revert back to it's insanity this year. What the hell!!! Matthews and Marner have played 5 NHL games and really what has changed so much from the team EVERYBODY was patient with last year??? Yet, Steve Dangle is pulling his hair out and now rumours of trading their young prospects. Yup, let the short cutting begin once again. This is where this team and this fan base continually shoots itself in the face to the benefit of 29 other teams!!! |
