I'm just glad we didn't move MAF for a 2nd or 3rd round pick at the draft.
I know he will eventually have one of those "MAF...WTF?!?!?!" games...but it seems like ALL goalies do in today's game. |

His trade value is pretty high if he keeps this up. |

LA is probably in the market for a net minder... Pens, Flyers and Stars are the first teams that come to my mind that they might contact. |

I don't think his value is anymore higher now then it was earlier. Even if he keeps this up, you might be able to secure a decent prospect along with a second round pick in return. I don't know who matches up absent Dallas, if the goaltending is a mess as we think. Interesting piece on the five most likely players to be traded in the recent Sporting News. MAF is second. Sure they mention Dallas as a possibility, but the other place surprised me ... Nashville.

Sure they are ... but this isn't a match. Will they want to acquire Fleury with two more years after this one at 5.75 and have Quick at 5.8 for the next seven years? One would be exposed. They don't have much cap room to make that deal unless Dustin Brown is coming back and we can't and won't accommodate that one.
I fully expect LA to go after Mason in Philly. He isn't a long term solution as he is a UFA and wouldn't cost a lot.
Flyers? I don't see Pittsburgh even calling them. Their tending situation isn't bad. Besides, I don't see MAF being traded to an Eastern team if they can help it.
Maybe Vancouver? Depends on how long they think the rebuild is. They probably trade Miller ... is Markstrom the long term answer? Demko? They probably have to wait three years for him to be ready. |

I meant that LA would probably reach out to the teams I mentioned. Not that those teams might trade with each other ie Philly and Pittsburgh. I agree Fleury would not be a fit in LA because of cap hit... But they'd probably kick tires on Murray. What if LA offered a 1st + more for Murray?

and that exactly helps us how when you consider where we stand at the cap and who we have to resign? I know who comes off the books, but resigning what we have at RFA won't come cheap. Then, you have to replace some of those you lose because we don't have suitable in house replacements. Why would they want Murray when they have Quick lined up for the next seven years? They would have to pay their backup who won't see much time if Quick is healthy 3 million plus.

Maybe Fleury to Buffalo if Lehner does not work out? |

Fleury has definitely increased his value with his earlier season performance. This summer he had health question marks and whether it would effect his performance. Now he is healthy and performing.
The big issue is of course finding a dance partner, but at his current performance 5.75 per year with only 2 years after this year isn't a terrible commitment to a team.
IMO Nashville makes a lot of sense as a dance partner. They need a goalie. I know they are paying a guy a ton of money to play that position, but he's not performing. Not sure on making caps work, but Nashville is a team Fleury could really help. The missing piece Nashville has to be a front runner is goal tending. In a lot of ways similar to Dallas - they have a ton of cash locked into a guy not performing.
I'm not sure how the cap would work for this season, but they are paying Rinne 7 per year. If they buy out Rinne its a cap hit per year of 2.333. Add that to Fleury 5.75 and its still only $8 million. If they are in win - now mode then they may want to go down that path. |

Maybe MAF stays right here where he belongs and Murray can go whine about some other teams gap control when he loses. |

A 1st for Murray from La doesn't even get the conversation going. It would need to start with a top 10 pick maybe something with a reasonable chance of being a top 5 pick to even consider a package based on picks for Murray. |

I personally believe the Flames are still a fit for a trade. No way is Elliot the long term answer. I could see a conditional second and Chad Johnson or Elliot for MAF. That may not be much but if you don't want to lose Murray to the expansion it's not a bad deal. Both Johnson and Elliot are on one year deals without much cap hit so it's easy on the pens. |

Glad the MAF/Murray stuff has come back up. Was trying to forget about it. Makes me nervous. Lots of room to (frank) up regarding our goalie situation. |

Yes, still possibility. They would have to give back one of the goalies plus something decent. Totally forgot Elliott only had one year left. I wonder if Calgary has approached him about an extension. I would wait if I were Calgary.
However, Calgary's deficiencies aren't only in net as it stands now. |
