Gotta admire the Sedins honesty. I don't see why the Nucks wouldn't resign them for a 1-2 deal where they can play 2nd-3rd line and still generate offence and not be a liability. |

Thanks again CS.
I think everyone is banking on the Sedins extending. I do hope they are willing to take less salary. I don't think money is any longer an issue so hopefully they will leave cap space for supplemental additions. |

The Sedins - class acts as always. I like that they were forthcoming in their answers. I think the Canucks can easily get another couple of seasons from them. |

The only way we don't re-sign the twins in 2 years is if they want too much money and management think it could make a future core player unaffordable before it expires. BUt i could see them signing for 4-5mil for 1 or 2 more seasons. |

All it does is delay the inevitable rebuild and few seasons in the basement. Why bother? Why not let them go to a contending team? |

Because we don't know if we need a rebuild? All we really need is a clear cut 1c which could be had before then. A few bad injuries this year and a bottom finish and we can get that future 1c. Juolevi looks legit, our future on defense is looking pretty good. OFC you always want better. Resigning the twins in 2 years can help keep us from needing a toronto/oilers type rebuild as it helps young players develop. |

I think they will take less money, but also want to be compensated for the role they play. There were other quotes about the Sedins wanting to lose the 1st line status if younger players push and become 1st line players
They want to win a cup here and if JB can bring in and develop some quality prospects, and the Sedins are still effective in a 2nd line role, and pp, I guess they see some hope in that.
If I were the Sedins, I'd sign single year contracts based on their desire to play for the club or another team or retire. |

I am all for them winning but they need to be part of the process. I don't think the team can win with them being the top line. In other words it won't happen in the next two years. Maybe in a second line role of Sedin Sedin Boeser. Bo Louie and someone else playing top line. We need to see how it looks in three years down the road.

They're the Canucks two top scorers, and they're 36 next week. The next highest scoring forward had 40 points. And the team was in the bottom 10 in terms of goals allowed, and that's only because they got decent goaltending. Second last in terms of shots allowed. Take away the Sedins and you have the lowest scoring team in the league that would have possibly ended up being the worst defensively as well. They had the worst goal differential in the entire league.
I think it's safe to say that a little more than just a number 1 centre is needed. If the Sedins retire, you don't even need a tear down, the team is already in a state that most teams end up at, after a tear down. |

What do you think the timeline is for the twins to be displaced to the second line? My guess is 4 years. |

from recent info and revelations, it sounds like we may as well put a fork in them now. |

By way of update, the Sbisa for Lupul, Rychel and the Leaf's 2nd from Washington deal is on hold as the Canucks/Avs talks about Landeskog have heated up again. The hold up is the Avs want Tanev and Hansen but the Nucks are only willing to offer Hutton and Hansen. Vancouver will be moving a D in a trade before their main training camp breaks. |

A couple of things I noted at the young stars game last night.
1. Subban needs to learn to make his teammates better. You can't rush the puck everytime.
2. Juolevi looks like a sublime type defender. Not much flash but solid positioning.
3. Stecher's experience stood out. He was very good with the puck on his stick.
4. The Canucks forwards are primarily permittter players. While they maintained possession well in the offensive zone there were only a handful or less of quality scoring chances.
5. Demko made some nice stops but needs to be better prepared for elite players. Puljarvi has a deceptively quick release and Demko didn't look set for the shot.
6. Valk has the hustle but got knocked off the puck too easily. Cassels looks to be back. Will be interesting to see if he can turn up his intensity. McKenzie has good wheels and hustle to go with it. Carcone is quick but small and didn't do much to impress.
All in all not a bad game. The Canucks kids looked good at times but had some bad breakdowns in their own zone. That is to be expected when they have just been thrown together. I'm hoping to see a better effort next game.
