You stole my comment! That's ok it's a good read and really interesting as you mentioned to have an NHL players perspective of who's the best at the position. I especially like the part about Gio being responsible for knocking out his teeth 2 years in a row. |

Tanner cannot believe Couture didn't say Jake Muzzin. So now I'm sure he feels Logan has no idea what he's talking about |

What is a "big game"
NHL playoffs don't count? |

Interesting that a skilled forward would comment on a defenseman and he focused on the offensive skill of the guy. I'd rather a skilled forward tell me which defenseman are the best based on how tough they are to play against defensively. Maybe couture likes him so much cause he's always behind the offensive net allowing couture to face wingers who have gone back to cover. |

Oh come on now...Gio is good at both ends
still butt hurt because he rocked Kadri like 10 times in one game? |

Why are other teams fans so butt hurt? You have a ranger and Laughs fan coming in here dissing a good player.
Obviously LC is biased towards Western teams, he has to play them more. It's just one players opinion. If Gio played in either of your self absorbed markets there is a damn good chance he would have won a Norris. Get over yourselves.
You can both go have a big cold glass of GFY! Strange how this lines up with Friday. |

I didn't give my opinion on Gio. I just stated my opinion on Couture's opinion. Actually not even an opinion. Just stated what I thought was interesting. And Kadri. I hate him. Pretty sure I cheered after the hit. Just because I'm a leafs fan doesn't mean I don't like or cheer for other teams/players. I gues this isn't a discussion. |

if forwards would vote. it would probably be...
seabrook/keith
chara and siddenburg (like 5 years ago) such a physical pairing.
likely webber josi... would not be fun against.
hedman/stralhman.
and probably burnsy + his partner
i would not have them all as top 10 defensemen but as a pairing those would be my five most feared pairs. |

For everyone but hurt about why he didn't pick so and so, the article was about the defensmen that Couture found to be the hardest to play against personally (hence the west-coast bias).
Also he only mentioned Seabrook because he thought he meshed well with Keith and made Keith even harder to play against (he didn't actually name a 5th defenseman like the title suggests).
It seems that Couture placed extra value on dmen with good offensive instincts and vision that play with an edge to their game (Burns, Gio and Keith). Josi was the only guy who isn't overly physical, but uses his hockey sense to burn you instead.
