What have they (frank)ed up?

This is an important point. I have always thought the Toronto media had way too much influence in the Leaf decision making. The media creates a theme, they pump the theme and everyone comes to believe in the theme because nobody wants to break the story line.

I believe the Austin Matthews story is a prime example of a runaway theme. Matthews was not even close to being the best player in the draft after Christmas. Both Finns were clearly better and had it not been for the media pumping his story as the Leafs first overall selection he would have dropped to third or fourth. Simply, everyone had too much invested into the storyline too pull back on the story everyone (including fans) wanted to see.

Anyway it will be apparent once the season starts that Matthews (a good player) does not punch in the same class as the Finns. Leaf fans will likely be discouraged. But, I don't think anyone will figure it out. They will wonder why everyone missed on Laine and they will blame Leaf management. They will miss on the pervasive influence the media has on Leaf management decisions.

Im actually disappointed by the lack of creativity from the trolls. Everything is Laffs, 67 and waffles. And im 99% certain leaf fans started all those insults! So come on trolls get creative.

Apparently everything through a contract that isn't done yet. Not surprising considering everyone was flipping out over Russell....a guy they didn't sign.

It shows how boring the Leafs have made things for the media that literally all they can make stories about is about things that haven't happened.

We're in July. I wouldn't be surprised if they are more focused on dealing with their RFAs.

I want to comment in that thread. There's just so much to work with. But I won't. I think the only way you can eradicate stupidity on that level is to ignore it.

Don't sorry, when the leafs are good again spats will be secretly cheering for them. He's like those politicians who oppose gay rights publicly but after hours frequent the glory hole. The overcompensation is pretty obvious.

Not that it needs pointing out but the hypothesis that the Toronto media influences all the scouting services to keep Matthews at number one because the Leafs had a twenty percent chance of winning the lottery seems dubious.

Now he's saying that the Toronto media essentially seduced the Leafs into selecting Matthews even though there are now multiple prospects that were clearly better candidates. Then he lines up the Senators B prospects against the Leaf prospects that are clearly better (and should be as Ottawa has had more success in recent regular seasons), and just eludes to the fact that he knows the Sens kids will be better.

I like the way he goes about trolling. How he just sets the bait and vehemently defends whatever point counters the pro Leaf angle, no matter how foolish.
