That wasn't a rumor, it was a speculated trade partner. Speculated and stated as such, I never heard that from a source and stated that many times. But, we are dealing in lots of fantasy today.

That's not happening. The Hawks already lack depth on D and trading away someone that eats a lot of minutes only makes that a much bigger problem.
- pjm901

That's pretty much the whole issue with this entire rumor. Anything the Hawks could give the Pens for Malkin would make the Pens cap situation even worse, unless they were willing to take Anisimov and a pick(s) just to shed Malkin's salary, but how do the Hawks fit Malkin's salary into their already top heavy structure without dealing a player like Seabrook, Keith or Crawford for peanuts? Could you imagine Malkin's salary with Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith and Crawford with 4 of those players making $9 million plus? They'd be so handcuffed going forward if a major injury (Malkin's good for it) occurs.

It's just a flawed rumor from a practicality standpoint any way you look at it.

You need to calm down, bud. You're ranting a little and it's no different that what you're accusing JJ of. This is a rumor blog. RUMOR. The rumor of Malkin popped up 3+ times yesterday form several people. One of them an actual beat writer for the Rangers. You think these 3 got together and planned it? JJ actually debunked it at first, but was contacted about a change. It's just rumors and initial talks, not "Hey! A trade is happening!" Talks change and GMs change their minds. it's negotiation.

As far as McKenzie goes, he's a great source for confirmed info and trades that have been agreed upon or are all but a sure thing. As a member of the primary hockey media, he can't really address what gets proposed to GMs or what one GM inquires about. There's no proof. Why would JR say "Sure, Stan called me about Geno"? There's no reason to create the media storm. Hence, rumor sites.

- JRoenick97

The ole 'youre freaking out' to attempt to marginalize and irrationalize ones response.
Men do this nonsense all the time to women.

Anyways, no ones ranting per se or upset or freaking out. Simple disagreement where I think his logic is deeply flawed.

And the blog was sorta deeper than how you saw it imo.
Aside from the fact that sites and sources all feed off each other, so hearing something multiple times is pretty par for the course and doesn't lend much more validity to it (which is proven) I think the blog was more about defending his ideas.
While really only using anecdotal evidence, exaggeration and even trying to marginalize bob Mackenzies thoughts. And let's not even get into attempting to discredit the actual gms words while propping his own up. Which was another point of contention with His ridiculous assertion that gms lies being exposed is somehow in the same stratosphere as disproven rumours from supposed insiders

And again, despite there being not an ounce of verifiable fact (quite the opposite as those in the scenario said no) all it takes it some plausible logic to throw sh1t against the wall

I think the rumour industry seems to be fundamental misunderstood by the vast majority. And this is probably exactly what guys like eklund count on.
The entire logistics of knowing everything gms do is just silly after one does a little critical thinking

Convenient echo chamber fantasy facts. Not surprising.

A large percentage of the guns purchased legally that are involved in Chicago murders are purchased in nearby Indiana—where gun laws are lax.

I own numerous firearms. Grew up shooting. Have lived in Chicago and Pittsburgh (and many other cities).

The whole Chicago violence, anti-gun control narrative is so flawed it's laughable.

- John Jaeckel

John, honest to God, I am very happy you said this because many people do not understand or realize this. So many buy into 90% of the media BS. The weapons are either stolen or bought from other states and brought into the city.

By the way, loved the blog. Keep it up JJ.

It could happen if they had Brian Campbell in their pocket at a low price. It would turn out to be Seabrook and Anisimov for Malkin. (Pitt would have to clear a little cap room.) Then sign Campbell with the cap savings.

Interesting for sure. Seems like Zatkoff got them past the Rangers and them they had Murray take most of the workload after that. Thought Murray played great. Liked Malkin's game too during the cup run.

I really think Pitt is making a huge mistake trading MAF. Would sure as H*** not be good if Murray Came out next year sucking and MAF was playing like MAF.

The tough part about it is the expansion draft looming. In a perfect world, MAF plays out his contract here and hands the keys over to Murray. The idea of losing Murray for nothing has kind of forced their hand.

If this expansion draft weren't in the very near future, they wouldn't be trading MAF. I'm nervous as hell that Murray will have growing pains next year.

Dalring and/or a lower-priced vet backfill TBD. Not an ideal answer, but money is money right now.

Wow, bud. I told you to calm down because you're getting super uptight about a rumor site, and you pull out some sexism BS? Don't compare me to some poopty narrative you've constructed in your head. Take a walk, pal. You're done here.

Could see a guy like Enroth giving the Hawks similar production to Crawford at about half the price. I think he is an underratted guy, and will be a stellar pickup for whoever signs him.

If Hawks move Crawford, they should pick up Montoya.

I think the combo of Darling and big Al could be cool.

I am buying the Hawks and Pens having a discussion around Malkin. For $$$ reasons, I'm very skeptical about a deal getting done.

The main takeaway IMO is that the Hawks are AGRESSIVELY exploring all opportunities to improve their roster as this team was very pedestrian in the 5v5 game.

And while the Hawks are certainly one of many with their balls in a salad shooter with the salary cap, they have several ASSETS that other teams covet. What remains to be seen is "at what price?".

I'm late to today's party

So...GM's don't have to call McKenzie first to let him know of trades their discussing?

I was always under the impression part of the CBA was to inform him of any discussions and when the trade goes down even before the tell the agents, players and NHL office.

I'm so confused now.

Others here will attest to this, I was told—and reported—there could be a BIG move this summer—a surprising name leaving and a surprising name coming.

This theory is waaaayyyyy out there, but it has SOME logic to it and is the kind of thing that feels like the "unsaid" story that would make this all make some sense.

Just saying.

- John Jaeckel

I might let this sink deeper into my psyche if A) Kane wasn't just the probable Hart Trophy winner, or B) decided to stay in Chicago for the summer to work out.

While it's going to take a lot for the FO to overlook what Kane has stirred up since his time in Chicago, he is getting older, he seems to have learned from what happened last summer and not going home to Buffalo, where he is revered and hanging around friends that might be sponging off of him (speculation on my part, but if I were friends with someone like Kane, I'd probably be sponging too), is helping is credibility. I don't think you can cut bait yet. That's just MHO.

During his NHL career, Enroth has played

50 games with two teams in 2014-2015

28 games in 2013-2014

26 games in 2011-12

16 games in 2015-16

You trade a STARTING Golaie and replace him with ?

The biggest problem is liberal judges in Cook County . Police bust their ass to lock up gun offenders, of all colors and races , mandatory 10 year penalties from the State are ignored by Cook County . Folks are out after 18 months most times . Sometimes less.

Montoya: 136 career games 55 wins

Crawford has played more than that (including the playoffs) in the last TWO seasons...
