Which part didn't you agree with ?

Feel free to add something rational here...

- Ihateallofu

I did not agree with the "inciteful" vs. "insightful" confusion. Too very very similar meanings indeed

Now if you want to spitball a Malkin trade, Seabrook would start to make sense from a cap perspective.

Let's look at Seabrook and Kruger for Malkin and a nice, cost controlled D

It's rarely a question of "want" with these Hawks moves, it's usually a question of that ugly matter called the salary cap.

If Shaw wants north of $3M it probably would cost the Hawks someone higher on the depth chart in order to fit under the cap.

- Hawksfan37

Time to trade Crawford, if not send Shaw to the Habs plz.

The thing that is killing the hawks is the depth and cost of the core.

The hawks have 6 players over $5m (and an 7th on the way in Breadman next year). Those 7 currently cost $50m.

I'm not going to go through all the teams to research this, but I'll bet there's not another team close to that cost tied up in so few players. Just look at Pens, for instance. Their top 7 add to about $46m. The difference between $46 and $50m is approximately LADD (replacing a $1m Rockford roster filler with a $5m Ladd costs $4m in cap space).

This heavy commitment to such a large and expensive top end is killing us.

And we're discussing making that worse???

Even Malkin for Seabrook would make our core cost $2m worse than it is today!

- Cmonalready

if the Hawks still had Johns, maybe Seabs gets moved. He is physical with a bomb of a shot. I hate his new deal but there is no one on the roster right now to replace him. The cupboard has been cleaned out in the past few years. In my opinion it reminds me of the gambler who wants one more hand to win his money back. He was at the top before and can get there again. That is why stan gets paid the bug bucks. He has gone all in and got 3 cups in 6 years. Have faith he will figure it out again

Recruiting support? That's where I win.
I could probably send link after link after link of bs rumours in less than 5 minutes.

If this is the brand you're trying to sell, the entire blog makes far more sense now.

I was totally rational and logical initially.

But you've just gotten silly now.

You can't debate it, there's mistakes and bs rumours claimed every single day on a gazillion different websites and a gazillions different channels

It's laughable that you're actually trying to draw a comparison here to sell your version of events. You've even kinda round about slagged Mackenzies insider credibility to prop up your own.
I was sorta under the impression you had more integrity than this.
Meh, lesson learned

- Ihateallofu

You need to calm down, bud. You're ranting a little and it's no different that what you're accusing JJ of. This is a rumor blog. RUMOR. The rumor of Malkin popped up 3+ times yesterday form several people. One of them an actual beat writer for the Rangers. You think these 3 got together and planned it? JJ actually debunked it at first, but was contacted about a change. It's just rumors and initial talks, not "Hey! A trade is happening!" Talks change and GMs change their minds. it's negotiation.

As far as McKenzie goes, he's a great source for confirmed info and trades that have been agreed upon or are all but a sure thing. As a member of the primary hockey media, he can't really address what gets proposed to GMs or what one GM inquires about. There's no proof. Why would JR say "Sure, Stan called me about Geno"? There's no reason to create the media storm. Hence, rumor sites.

It seems like Malkin's name comes up every year... It's not a stretch to believe that other GM's would ask about his availability.
However Rutherford might be the most open GM in the NHL. He can't help himself but talk about what he's working on without spilling the beans. He says Malkin isn't being traded he means it. When asked about Fleury he said I would love to keep him but it's a business and he has to listen. My money is on Fleury going not Malkin.

Curious to see as to where MAF ends up. Is Zatkoff suspected to back up Murray next season?

I said it before, and I'm saying it again.....The Hawks are looking to trade Kane for Malkin. Kane has been a PR nightmare since about day 1. Remember last summer? When the season started, fans Boood him. Drunk pictures? Cab driver? Etc. Kanes trade value is at an all time high. I believe Stan is trying to squeeze out a pick or two also in the deal. Plus , we save a mil or so.

This trade would leave the Hawks with the deepest C depth in the NHL. Toews, Malkin, AA, and Kruger. We will just have to find some forwards to play with these guys. An F is much easier to find than a C. I believe that the Bread Man, could some day be Kane lite.

- OutlawSteve

Others here will attest to this, I was told—and reported—there could be a BIG move this summer—a surprising name leaving and a surprising name coming.

This theory is waaaayyyyy out there, but it has SOME logic to it and is the kind of thing that feels like the "unsaid" story that would make this all make some sense.

Just saying.

I would imagine that would be the plan if Fleury is moved. He would be there until Tristen Jarry is ready.

JJ: No rumors to be reported.
Board: C'mon JJ, get on the rumors, we're bored! When's something going to happen.

JJ: Rumor is....
Board: You're an idiot, a hack! You're sources are crap.

Reasonable response I guess. D@mned if you do, d@mned if you don't. I appreciate the rumors not matter how likely/unlikely. It gets us talking about hockey. Call me crazy, but that seems like something that should be done on a hockey board.

I think the Pens go out and get a veteran back up to split time with Murray if MAF is moved. Guys in the ilk of Khudoben, Enroth, or Montoya.

Not to mention the 300 murders and gun free zone that it is People must be falling from the rooftops instead of being shot
- holeinone

Convenient echo chamber fantasy facts. Not surprising.

A large percentage of the guns purchased legally that are involved in Chicago murders are purchased in nearby Indiana—where gun laws are lax.

I own numerous firearms. Grew up shooting. Have lived in Chicago and Pittsburgh (and many other cities).

The whole Chicago violence, anti-gun control narrative is so flawed it's laughable.

That wasn't a rumor, it was a speculated trade partner. Speculated and stated as such, I never heard that from a source and stated that many times. But, we are dealing in lots of fantasy today.

Interesting for sure. Seems like Zatkoff got them past the Rangers and them they had Murray take most of the workload after that. Thought Murray played great. Liked Malkin's game too during the cup run.

That's what I've been trying to express to the Hawks fans. Ruth is toooooo honest when talking about personnel. It's very strange for a GM these days to be so....well....honest.
