Lucic definitely has his place but I don't think he is worth what he's going to get.

This whole Malkin rumor just seems completely unworkable. The player movement needed to fit him under the cap just seems absurd.

How would it be possible without moving one of T or K, or gutting the blueline?

And how would his acquisition, combined with the players lost, make the Hawks better?

...I just can't envision it.

Go back a couple pages (17?) i put a lineup that had money working and reasonable trades. Its nonsenical, but its a pretty good guess at what woukd need to happen. Also doesnt include Moose which would help the cap # even more.

Yep. And even if Pitt kept some of the salary.. It still doesn't manage.

I'd completely brush it off but it seems to be coming from very different outlets.

I suppose significant salary retention would be the only way to make it work, but why would the Pens do that?...Malkin turns 30 this July and has what...? 6 years left on his mega deal...?

Stranger things have happened, but I just can't envision this being real...

...or desirable for either club.

I don't know if your numbers are right. I'm not taking time to look them up but I like this lol.

But I don't think that's far off from what Okposo would get at all.

I've always liked Okposo.

On my cell. I didnt run it through the armchair gm. I may be a mil or two over the cap with this.

And its good to see you posting pri$ey

A bit bizarre don't you think? Are they getting lots of heat from anyone for the trade? I didn't like it when I heard it, but only because of the return, not so much getting rid of TT as a sweetener for dumping Bickell.

Agree .I did not like the trade either ,big TT fan myself and still believe he will come around to haunt the HAWKS down the road . But times are tough ,and tough decision's had to be made . I was glad no salary came back , and HAWKS got a 2nd this year .
Been getting pumped for the draft myself as always ,disappointing not to have a 1st .But there is still gold in those later rounds . Hope the HAWKS take a chance on this Sean Day kid ,maybe a cross between Saad and Beach .Big D man 6.3 230 with massive physical tools ,but does have the mind set . Sound familiar .Maybe Seebs and Toews could point him in the right direction ,like Saad not Beach .. She is a deep draft this one ..

JJ- any chance the Hawks look to do a Yandle type trade with Ladd's rights? Seems unlikely they will sign him at this point

1. It probably isn't.
2. It doesn't.

That's why it's a terrible idea. They would eliminate all depth, lose the ability to extend Panarin, and either have 42% of their cap tied into three players OR we have malkin who misses 20 games a season and we've lost Kane.
