Could all the Malkin rumors be a feint or distraction on the Hawks part to keep people's attention from something else?
- Marlowe

Something is happening. Kuc and Boyle are being fed information directly from the Hawks.

Another good article from Powers, this time about how Kane has improved his skills and overall game.

I read in the hockey news that Okposo and Toews became friends playing together. I wonder if the talk of trading Krugs and shaw would be to add Okposo and Martin. Those two would come in less than Malkins hit. Add campbell and you have:

Panik-Toews-Okposo
Panarin-AA-Kane
Martin-Schmaltz-Hossa
Desi-Moose-Mcneill

Add campbell and you have

Keith-Seabs
Hammer-Soupy
Tvr-Kempny
Gus

That is guessing they can convince Okposo to take 5.75 to play with his old friend, Martin at about 1.8, and Soupy at 1.5.

Powers is probably best when it comes to writing about Hawks currently. Great work again.. Anyone who wants to trade Kane is sane..

I think that unless the Malkin rumors are a feint or distraction (Darth your gifs slay me) the only way the Malkin thing makes sense is when you factor in the thing(s) we don't know and may never know about plans within plans and their counter plans. On the face of it knowing what we know (which Guarenteed isn't everything important) about the deal, it doesn't make sense for either team.

Yeah maybe if Kane looked off his game this season, took a step backwards, then MAYBE i could see trading him because of his past off ice BS or what not. But coming off the season he just had? Not in a MILLION YEARS would i trade him. The entire city of Chicago would riot. And rightfully so.

JJ, over under % this is one really, REALLY good smoke screen for something else? As much as i would like malkin, the $$ just doesnt seem to work out if they want to keep panarin. Unless they sign panarin this summer i would guess they dont bring someone in with that high AAV with that much term

Hell maybe your right about Mcdonagh wanting to be in chicago news lime light, but id assume he woukd want to do that post draft whe. All will be DEAD until the world champs or whatever the tourney is called.

I have one buddy that is involved in real life professional hockey. Just 1, not like some of you with tons of connections. My friend thinks all the Malkin talk is because the fragile Hawks front office wants a distraction from the TT trade. Thats it.
He thinks Shaw and Freddy could absolutley be delt this weekend but probably not for Malkin . Just my buddies .02 This discussion will be fun all weekend.

I like it ,Okposo is a player I have always liked .Maybe you drop Soupy and Martin (Also very good ) down a tad and Give Okposo 6 mil it could happen . But in all reality most of the players are friends .

I don't know if your numbers are right. I'm not taking time to look them up but I like this lol.

But I don't think that's far off from what Okposo would get at all.

I've always liked Okposo.

A bit bizarre don't you think? Are they getting lots of heat from anyone for the trade? I didn't like it when I heard it, but only because of the return, not so much getting rid of TT as a sweetener for dumping Bickell.

That's a little overkill to overshadow the TT trade, IMO. Not saying Malkin will happen but they don't hand feed Boyle and Kuc something like that unless there is something going on. They can't afford to burn those two loyal puppies.

Lucic definitely has his place but I don't think he is worth what he's going to get. He should have been a big time game breaker for the Kings and it didn't work.

Some team that has space and needs that type of guy is going to overpay. He's probably going to get $6 million. Oilers, Islanders, Flames, Canucks would be my guess.

Congratulation Mr. Kane .Well done sir . What a haul . Just a superhuman performance ,and I just think it is getting started . So glad the team believe in him , when so many others did not , He paid them back in spades

Mornin' John...hope you're well. Any rumblings or all quiet - assuming Hawks on lockdown going into the draft.

Yet another media outlet riding in your wake...

http://sportsmockery.com/...-pursuit-three-time-star/

keep up the great work sir...

meanwhile as several have mentioned team mouthpieces Kuc and Boyle are beating the drums as well.

This whole Malkin rumor just seems completely unworkable. The player movement needed to fit him under the cap just seems absurd.

How would it be possible without moving one of T or K, or gutting the blueline?

And how would his acquisition, combined with the players lost, make the Hawks better?

...I just can't envision it.

It's also catch 22. If they don't (and probably won't) get Malkin, fans are going to be angry that they couldn't close the deal for him.

The only thing that makes any sense to me at this point is looking into trading Shaw and Kruger. They can get some good assets there and still be able to get someone they want on the market too.

Yep. And even if Pitt kept some of the salary.. It still doesn't manage.

I'd completely brush it off but it seems to be coming from very different outlets.

Didnt think about it from that angle, but its working pretty damn well if thats the intent or not. Its only been wild speculation, mindless hate (RIP JJ twitter), or complete bewilderment all towards malkin. The prodigal finn hasnt really been a topic on this or the last blog... Nor on any of the other hockey sites im on yoo often
