That's why I thought it was interesting that Pat Brisson, plans to discuss a new contract with the Chicago Blackhawks at the draft. Like you said Shaw's agent is able to talk to any team he wants to now.
- walleyeb1

....another team can talk but unless they are willing to write a sheet it doesn't matter, the Hawks will certainly qualify Shaw at the very least.

I was referring to the trade value of Shaw's rights...They aren't worth much now.
- Al

What do you estimate the Hawks would get if they traded Shaw's rights?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Shaw/Crow package...

Don't know that the market for each individually would yield the first round pick of those teams who would be interested... But both together?

Would the 2 together justify Calgary or Buffalo parting ways w/ the #6 or #8? Would be ideal to get more, but don't know the market is there...

Buffalo targeting a "faster" rebuild...

The next few days may get quite interesting

Buffalo and Pegula are going $12M large for Stamkos to screw the Leafs after Babcock snubbed them last year.

If Vanek ends up being bought out by the Wild, who would take a chance on him if we can get him at a rate around $2 million?

Adding Vanek and Soupy for a combined $4 million and letting Shaw walk would be an alternative that makes sense in regards to filling needs with limited cap space.

Nobody writes sheets anymore, basically a waste of time and very expensive to do. And the team with the RFA usually matches after getting really ticked off. Much better to try to arrange a trade.

I would think that would be if he was an UFA. As a rfa i see a 4th or prospect personally

You can't be serious about Vanek. He is the stiff of all stiffs. Lazy POS.

Bottom 6 forwards look to be Kruger, Panik, Desi, (maybe Lundberg, McNeill), Rasmussen... Not terrible but not great either.

Why would the 'Hawks take such a low pick? If he's OS'd it'd likely be a second. His 'Hawks QO should be $2.5M if I remember the QO rules for his salary.

If the 'Hawks sit idly by and leave the ball in Shaw's court, they can let another team OS him. Once the QO was made, the 'Hawks protect themselves againt losing him for nothing (e.g. the Tallon/FO '08 QO fiasco). No?

Sure.

But the fact of the matter is, there's no other player out there on the market that can fill the 1LW position with the amount of cap space the 'Hawks have to work with.

Of course, it's not a foregone conclusion that Minnesota will buy him out, but with a likely Ladd departure, and Panarin playing on that second line, there's no other winger on the team that is capable of filling that void on 1LW as everyone knows.

Just an alternative worth exploring should the possibility arise. He's a proven scorer in this league. Not sure what his problems in Minnesota were.

Tracy - In more news, #Blackhawks agree to terms with forward Dennis Rasmussen on a one-year contract.

Moose is back!

- JRoenick97

Thanks for posting............ Great news. Kid has a chance at a role, got a 44 game taste of the NHL last year, 9 points, +4 and he generated more points per 60 minutes than did TT, Hossa and and the same amount as AA. http://stats.hockeyanalys...p=1&sort=PCT&sortdir=DESC

I liked the way Rasmussen played when he got called up, he'll be a solid 4C.

So far the bottom 6 is:

Panik - Kruger - ???
Desjardins - Rasmussen - ???

That's not a bad bottom 6 at all. It's shaping up to be better than I thought it would be.

Assuming Stan can add a d-man cheaply, like soupy, and shore up the d corp. I am trading Crawford to fill that lw gaping hole which, imo, if not filled, this team simply cannot go far. So a trade of something like say Crawford and Shaws rights for Ehlers, which would allow for some $$ to fill quality forward depth. Sign me up.

That is, until he gets "Q'd" again. He may rue signing up for another go-round.

Keep in mind any team that wants to offer sheet him must have their own picks to give the Hawks as compensation

Yes and in this case unless there is cost certainty for the acquirer there isn't going to be much value in return.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lundberg get a shot. Add a bit more speed, forecheck and grit to the 4th line.

Point is Shaw has no leverage...Unless an offer sheet comes in...None.
Everything else is people trying to understand the process and segment it.
Shaw has no arbitration eligibility either.

I'm not saying to take the 7th rounder.

You just don't want to bring the Vanek profile and on ice demeanor into the Hawks dressing room. Sure he can put the puck in the net and the rest of the time he dogs it out there until he comes up with a boo boo on his baby finger and then sits out for 15 games. Shaw would punch his lights out after playing with him for one shift. And then Q would urinate on him.

Ya...I would think there's a good chance he slows in as the 4RW or 13th forward. The 3RW will be a real interesting spot to watch out for.
