According to this: http://www.chicagotribune...eturn-20160622-story.html, They still live in Chicago over summer. - JRoenick97
Nice. I just remember hearing the sold their place in Lincoln Park. Makes it all the easier to make the wife happy and play here on the cheap since they still live in the suburbs!! |

Honestly, I can see him coming back at $600k as a language buddy/assistant coach in waiting/6-7 d-man. Risk is relatively low, and Q loves him. True, his skating speed/acceleration can best be described as "gradual", but he's a veteran who is a warrior. |

I'm not a B ball fan but didn't fans lose respect fro Rose after he was medically cleared to play but refused? I think he took another 2-3 months off?? - Lido_Shuffle
After getting cleared to play by doctors he said "physically i fine but I am not emotionally prepared to play". How the F the Bulls were emotionally prepared to pay him anyway is beyond me. I'm not a BB fan but a hometown hero is a good story. Instead the guy is a hometown headcase. |

@ChrisKuc just tweeted (more smoke for the fire): Source says Brian Campbell has serious interest in returning to #Blackhawks. Defenseman would have to agree to discounted contract.
Would love to see Soupy back at a discount -- provided Q will deploy him... - Marlowe
Yet ANOTHER report of Campbell wanting to play for the Hawks. Not a peep I've heard or seen anywhere that they want him. |

I think it's safe to say we know who the top 5 are and 6-7 are going to play for under $1 million a piece, whether that's Campbell, Rozy, Svedberg, Gustafsson or Pokka.
The real remaining roster issue at at LW. Shaw is not a LW either. Panik slots at 3LW rather nicely, Desi at 4LW. Panarin at one of the top 6 spots. Personally, I think the writing is on the wall that Shaw goes elsewhere, especially when you have 88 and 81. Just seems to me they can go out and get the lower line RWs either off the scrap heap (also for a $1 million or less deal) or from Rockford. |

Is Soupy still a solid puck mover? Haven't seen him play in a while. If he comes cheap I'd say do it if he adds offense, especially 5 on 5. This team will need depth scoring from anywhere it can get it. |

Once they move AA...and CC....they can sign Stamkos to center for Kane. You can play LW on that line. Panarin can move to Toews LW

Hey JJ, just curious why you don't feel that Campbell can slot back into D4 next to Hammer? It appears you like TVR and Kempny better and I was just wondering why. Not arguing...just looking for your reasoning.

Another GM who always tells the truth:
From a current piece on tsn.com (Frank Seravalli)
"Can the Oilers find a top-four defenceman?
Despite the rhetoric from Avalanche GM Joe Sakic, there is belief the Oilers have not given up on the possibility of prying Tyson Barrie out of Colorado. Barrie, a 24-year-old restricted free agent, is exactly what the Oilers need in a right-shooting, puck-moving blue liner
Sakic told the Denver Post last week “either way - John Jaeckel[Barrie] will be here” when the season opens in October, whether through arbitration or a new long-term deal, but he also said the same thing last summer when talking about Ryan O’Reilly. Sakic said on June 18, 2015 that O’Reilly was the team’s “first priority” and the goal was to get a long-term deal done before the start of training camp. O’Reilly was traded to Buffalo eight days later, on the eve of the draft."
I don't doubt that Rutherford is forthright.
I do know of trades and situations involving him in CAR that were not made public til very late.
I also suspect if they were talking about Malkin it's not something he's comfortable going out with right now. Because of the kind of reaction this engendered yesterday.
And to no fault of Rutherford or any GM / team official in any sport.
They can't tip their hand(s). They screw up any leverage they could have had if they opened up about anything. Why is this so damned difficult for some people to understand? |

I know this is a Hawks/hockey forum and not a Bulls/basketball one, but I'm curious:
If Toews/Kane got SERIOUSLY hurt (maybe a couple times), and missed a lot of time, weren't healthy, and definitely not the players they used to be when they returned...
Would we throw them under the bus the way the Bulls, media, and fans did to Rose? They constantly berated him for missing time due to injury. Fans wanted him traded, and towards the end of this season the media did too. He allegedly bumped heads on occasion with another star on the team (Butler). Towards the end of his time here in Chicago he was looked upon more like a villain rather than a hero.
Derrick was a hometown kid, won an MVP, and brought Bulls basketball back to relevancy for the first time since the Jordan days. He made a huge mark here in Chicago, but will be remembered for his injuries/missed games/failing in the playoffs.
I know Toews and Kane helped guide the 'Hawks to three cups, but I actually wonder/am concerned about the possibility should something devastating happen to either of them. Especially considering how much cap space their contracts take up/duration. - TommyHawk
I've watched 5 minutes of pro hoops since the Jordan/Pippen/Grant Bulls were over but couldn't help hear of Rose refusing to play when doctors said he was fine, him using his brother as his PR man and being quoted as saying he has to think of his family concerning his next contract when he's been paid a few hundred mil over his career, much of which has been spent on the IR.
Add it's speculated he can't read, never went to class and folks start to pick when you're getting paid 50 mil a year and don't wanna play...
Again I could be off on my "facts" here but for this fan people like D Rose are the reason I'll never watch/support pro hoops again.

Agreed, but I keep thinking about Shaw's agents comment earlier: Andrew Shaw's agent, Pat Brisson, plans to discuss a new contract for his client with the Chicago Blackhawks next week at the draft, reports Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune. |
