It sure isn't. However, I do like Taco John's - despite it being Americanized fast-food crap. - EKB13
I am always up for some fast food crap. Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of non-authentic ethnic food out there. Doesn't make it inedible. Heck, I don't really consider Olive Garden Italian food, but it doesn't mean I can't eat a meal there.

Hossa + AA for Malkin
It's almost an even swap AAV wise - Slofire94
But Hossa's cap circumventing contract...
No team is taking that without some serious overpay. |

As in not enough to pry Malkin? Or an overpayment? I was even going to say Seabrook, Shaw, and Panarin for Malkin. - SimmerDown17
If I limit this strictly from a cap perspective:
Seabrook is 6.875 x 7 more years
Shaw is an RFA
and Panarian will be an RFA in another year (and I think the figure he would want would be quite large)
If there ever was a Malkin trade, I'd believe JR would be using it to shed salary. The move you suggested might work for 1 year, but then its the same situation all over. Plus the pens would be hurting for a second line center (not bonino) |

If you need my reassurance, he's only missed 7 playoff games (MCL/ACL tear in '10-'11) - DeflatedPucks
Certainly want a core guy for the playoffs but on that account Deboer sent out his 3rd line centered by 21 yr old Tierney to shut down the Malkin line, and they did!!
Maybe Malkin had a bad elbow, maybe not. But if he did/does IMO he should have had surgery 3-4-5 days ago.
Would you draft him in the 1st round in your fantasy league?

I can't go to a Taco John's without ordering potato ole's with a side of nacho cheese. It's a guilty pleasure.

How about this, how about the Blackhawks trade their entire franchise to Pittsburgh in exchange for the Penguins? Will that work? That would be one way to get Malkin....AND Crosby...AND instantly become Cup champs again.... - SimpleJack
How about giving your realistic opinion of what it would take to get Malkin and have it work for both teams? Or is it too difficult for you? |

malkin does not want out lol
you are right about russia
keith makes 2 mil less and is 32! years old
malkin is 2nd line center cuz sid is the 1st line center... and there is noone bouncing him out of that place. - martox
Not trying to be an ass,
You know that? When was the last time you talked to him?
and cap hit is 5.5 vs. malkins 9.5

Then it gets evened out skill wise with picks/prospects on both sides
(Schmaltz, 2017 1st, etc etc)
I was purely looking at making the numbers work, and moving parts of the "core" to make room for Malkin. As we've all agreed we simply can't add him to the current setup |

Therein lies the rub. I don't think it works for both teams, regardless of which names are thrown out there. |

JJ,
Would you take that trade if you were Bowman? Being, Malkin for AA and Kruger. It would take more wouldn't it?
- BURDA13
You'd have to think.
-JJ
No. Because that trade doesn't resolve anything cap-wise. If that trade occurred, Hawks would also have to trade Craw to make the cap work. And couldnt fit Shaw.
So the result of that trade would be:
Lose:
AA
Krug
Craw
Shaw
Gain:
Malkin
pick for Craw trade
minor pick for Shaw rights trade
OVER FOUR MILLION IN CAPSPACE WITHOUT SHAWS CONTRACT
So to analyze that trade proposal, how do we all feel about Malkin and a pick for AA, Krug, Craw and Shaw? - Cmonalready

John-
Well done, and I give you a lot of credit for having the guts to put stuff out there, and to sit here and deal with some trolls, not all opposing teams fans are but some are, and the request to info from posters, and then immediately saying it's asinine when it doesn't match what the fans or posters want to hear or believe.
on top of the kane wrist you injury, you also had the Crawford concussionS AND Sharp knee injury....
And for many outsiders or haters who post here, give me a guy in the Chicago media now who actually breaks a damn thing in regards to rumors, injuries, trades, or even team announcements (winter classic vs Wash). I can't think of one. Not one and before I go on Mex post crusade, think why that is.....and then check your negativity towards asset that John has become to many of us Hawks fans. You want a lay up blog? Go read 2ndcityhockey and enjoy the blind love that eveyr Hawks player is worth at least Crosby in return, and every Hawks prospect is the NEXT Patrick Kane.
You want a morale crusade against the Blackhawks organization? Go read Sam Fels or listen to Bernstein. You want to hear a guy use scapegoats as to why the Hawks lose, go listen or read Zawaski.
What do all the above have in common outside of Fels to an extent, they are muted and monitored by Brandon Faber and the Hawks. If you can't see the trees in front of you in regards to how this organization works and how the message is ALWAYS controlled then god be with you.
For everyone who begs for links or sources, like a few who no longer post here did over a year ago, I can flat out tell you that I have PERSONALLY met 3 guys on here that are LEGIT. you can believe or not, but there are guys on here who know a helluva lot more and have been run off at times by the delusional.
Remember the Hawks would never trade dear Teuvo because he was a sure fire top 6 player and next Kane....and the hawks would never trade Sharp.....and the Hawks would get a hometown discount from Kane/Toews or Saad or Shaw just because.
I get why the opposing fans come in here from time to time ridiculing us a band wagon fans because the intellect of many Hawks fans is so damn Cub like it makes me shake my head......
John's job is to report what he hears and if GMs want use puppets to keep the public off them, that's their choice.....but when multiple outlets over numerous markets report something similar....maybe it's factual?
- SteveRain
Thanks buddy.

Yep.....the 500 lb elephant in the room is that HRR was actually less and the cap would have been down if not for the players' escalator. Great article by Lebrun interviewing Fehr about this on ESPN.com if you want to look. Very good insight.
So to my understanding, next Friday, the hawks can be 10% up over 73 million towards NEXT year's cap if they want to sign panarin LT. Once that cap number is released for 2017-18 they will have to get cap compliant by opening day or if the cap were to drop next year vs this year.
Which is why I think CC stays another year and gives Bowman some leverage to keep Darlings AAV down to help navigate those waters for next year. - SteveRain
Maybe, but then you are gambling that you can move Crawford before the expansion draft and protect Darling. Every GM knows that so your return at that point is greatly diminished. |

Blackhawks have done a fantastic job at keeping things under wraps. Other than the Malkin rumor really haven't heard anything on the Hawks, from any of the usual suspects.
So here's my attempt at working with what we have.

I'm not sure that it does. The possible cap-recapture penalty on Hossa contract isn't pretty, and a possible non-starter for any trade conversation. |

Still think this is a Malkin thing is a smoke screen for...
Hawks move a signed AA.....and Crawdaddy
Sign Stamkos - BOOM!
Kane on Stammers RW may equal 70g for Stamkos. Hawks have had interest in him in the past. |

Seriously, just clicked on one today about Kane and it is absolutely brutal. I hope those guys over there never make a mistake or are accused and acquitted, because, just for karma's sake, I would like to lambast them. - CanOCorn
Just to be factual - he wasn't acquitted, wasn't pronounced innocent - the DA declined to prosecute for lack of evidence - perhaps conflicting evidence. |

Here are my final thoughts on this rumor. Sometimes teams talk to each other for the sake of talking and that's it. It never hurts. In the end, and like JJ I can't speak for the Pens, but I think this makes terrible sense for the Hawks in any iteration.
The only serious trades I see happening with the Hawks from this point out involve Shaw or Darling. I could seriously see Darling going to a team that needs some goaltending help like Columbus or Buffalo in exchange for some retained salary.

Dont like the defensive bottom 3 and think the UND boys are out of place on the 4th line. However i agree it is realistic if Shaw will take only 3 mil. |
