Just throwing it out there....Weise is a cheaper option if Shaw doesn't work out. Sure Q benched him a bunch but if he had to pick between playing Weise or playing Rockford players something tells me he'd go with Weise.
- Dabearshawks

Has anyone else perused the available UFA's at all positions? Weise and Flash are some of the more affordable players that had quantifiable production in 2015. And that is looking at a list that goes 25 deep.

I'm with you DBH. Do you really think Weise would be willing to resign? Maybe he's "guaranteed" (to the extent Q doesn't scratch him) more time if Shaw departs.

My Lord Steve... Another long post?!

I'm just kidding bud. Great insight - keep it coming.

Somebody has to fill in for Mex why he is gone.......

No I had to get that off my chest. Drives me insane.

Nobody reveals sources, that's how Journalism works....sadly the guys who are with the team 82 games a year, around the organization, around the front office, in the press box, etc.......still can't develop a source OR even have the intestinal fortitude to sack up and report something?

Nope. But instead they play grab @ss on twitter about their grueling schedules and travel woes......If I were an editor I would wonder what the hell I am paying this guy/gal for as they have ZERO MUST read info in their pieces that I couldn't get from the AP wire........

Others here will attest to this, I was told—and reported—there could be a BIG move this summer—a surprising name leaving and a surprising name coming.

This theory is waaaayyyyy out there, but it has SOME logic to it and is the kind of thing that feels like the "unsaid" story that would make this all make some sense.

Just saying.

- John Jaeckel

People have made mention of the PR nightmare Kane has been. Yes it hasn't been good but imagine the backlash and PR doomsday the Hawks would face after trading one of its superstar, reigning MVP and Art Ross winner, three time Cup champ, Conn Smythe and Calder winning best American to have played the game right winger....

I'd be lining up with a pitchfork at 1901 W. Madison. I wholeheartedly believe the McD is more PR focused than anyone in the NHL but even he has to know that couldn't end well. The ONLY way to curb that kind of storm is to win the following June...and you better hope Kane wouldn't win any more if we dealt him.

Let's keep 19 and 88 right where they should be...in the rafters in 15 years

It's quite comical that the 4x Cup winning coach (1 as an assistant) and second All time winning coach in NHL history would have to promise Dale Weise anything

Weise had 1g and 1assist in his 19gms played in CHI

That ugly bastard didn't earn anything in CHI

Im still in shock that the Pens blog is dead. You just won a Cup and your blog is dead? I will say this. We have a rabid fan base here. We are on this blog throwing it around constantly..

A. It's 12:21 est on a Wednesday. Maybe people in Pittsburgh are at work?!?!?

B. Not many buy that Geno is moving. As I said earlier...it's a yearly thing.

John-

Well done, and I give you a lot of credit for having the guts to put stuff out there, and to sit here and deal with some trolls, not all opposing teams fans are but some are, and the request to info from posters, and then immediately saying it's asinine when it doesn't match what the fans or posters want to hear or believe.

on top of the kane wrist you injury, you also had the Crawford concussionS AND Sharp knee injury....

And for many outsiders or haters who post here, give me a guy in the Chicago media now who actually breaks a damn thing in regards to rumors, injuries, trades, or even team announcements (winter classic vs Wash). I can't think of one. Not one and before I go on Mex post crusade, think why that is.....and then check your negativity towards asset that John has become to many of us Hawks fans. You want a lay up blog? Go read 2ndcityhockey and enjoy the blind love that eveyr Hawks player is worth at least Crosby in return, and every Hawks prospect is the NEXT Patrick Kane.

You want a morale crusade against the Blackhawks organization? Go read Sam Fels or listen to Bernstein. You want to hear a guy use scapegoats as to why the Hawks lose, go listen or read Zawaski.

What do all the above have in common outside of Fels to an extent, they are muted and monitored by Brandon Faber and the Hawks. If you can't see the trees in front of you in regards to how this organization works and how the message is ALWAYS controlled then god be with you.

For everyone who begs for links or sources, like a few who no longer post here did over a year ago, I can flat out tell you that I have PERSONALLY met 3 guys on here that are LEGIT. you can believe or not, but there are guys on here who know a helluva lot more and have been run off at times by the delusional.

Remember the Hawks would never trade dear Teuvo because he was a sure fire top 6 player and next Kane....and the hawks would never trade Sharp.....and the Hawks would get a hometown discount from Kane/Toews or Saad or Shaw just because.

I get why the opposing fans come in here from time to time ridiculing us a band wagon fans because the intellect of many Hawks fans is so damn Cub like it makes me shake my head......

John's job is to report what he hears and if GMs want use puppets to keep the public off them, that's their choice.....but when multiple outlets over numerous markets report something similar....maybe it's factual?

Well, he didn't get a ton of time either. Likely because Shaw was playing so well and offers more with a similar skillset.

Agreed 100% and Weise was one of the few Hawks with a huge jump late in the series vs STL. I think he fell out favor with Q, like Vermette last year, because he was brough in to provide some depth scoring at the end of the season failed to do it. Believe neither of those guys scored a regular season goal...Vermette had a shoot out winner, but that's all between both.

Again, with cap at 73 million, Bowman has a set figure in mind, and how close he and the shaw camp are remains to be seen. This very well could be Saad part 2 and it's not the player, the agent or the Hawks fault. Its the nature of the beast and the Hawks small financial flexibility.

Thats fine.. but some are in here getting testy over the thought of Malkin leaving and Chicago could be a place where he wants to go. I think Malkin is a fabulous talent and would love to have him here, but not at the expense of gutting what little depth we have right now.
- z1990z

I would be one getting testy, as in I don't want the uber-talented 30 yr old who for the last 3 years has played 57, 69, and 60 games at a 9.5 hit through 20/21.

Call me CONservative but I need reasonable assurances a core guy will be on the ice.

I'm not saying he's damaged goods, but if it is a chronic UCL issue or something serious, that might explain why he is aledgedly being shopped.

Rutherford did say the injury was "Real Serious".

More food for thought.

Thanks......god knows I enjoy the banter in here, but at times too many seem to forget what we, as hawks fans, truly have in regards to any insight into the team.

It's fair to question the thinking of WHAT is being reported about the hawks by Jhhn, but not to question how John came to reporting it....if that makes any sense.......

Can I just say it but a (healthy and motivated) line of Panarin / Malkin / Kane would be spectacular. I am not sure it is feasible or wise for the Hawks to make such a move but that line if it gels could be one of the greatest in the history of the game.

HELL NO.

Zatkoff had one decent game, then laid a goose egg. Murray should be getting credit for that

- DeflatedPucks

I would say Murray has taken over the #1 role from MAF, and did win the series, but the first sentence is wrong. Zatkoff played very well in game 1, and wasn't as bad as his .800 save percentage in game 2. He gave up 4 goals, but 2 of them were completely on the D for allowing cross-ice passes right in front of the net, and one was on a breakaway. IMO, Zatkoff will never be a #1, but he can be a cheap back-up.

- NJPensfan

The few posts I've read of yours have been helpful. Would you agree that Crosby has turned the corner in doubters' minds as to his will to win these past playoffs.

IMO he matured right before my eyes and added maturity to world class talent. He just wouldn't be knocked of his game with slashes, crosschecks and elbows. Just turned and went the other way and won a cup for his troubles.

It makes total sense to me. Deviating from it only opens the door for things to go sideways, or get off track in here.
