I don't think this years pick will play on Canucks this year. WD said a few days ago , it is very unlikely. I don't even expect JV or McCann to start the year on Canucks.
I do expect Boeser on the team in 2017 .
I do expect this years pick on the team in 2018
Barrie would not be a temporary addition. - VANTEL
Lets say he plays 10 years here. With the assets you move to get him you're likely not a playoff team for at least 4/5 years. |

If the 5th overall is on the roster next season, it's probably a pretty bad roster. - CubanBuffet
TBH, rushing all their youth they are starting to look like the Oilers. |

I don't disagree. I think McCann legitimately surprised in camp, but clearly wasn't ready. I think Virtanen had a spot more or less waiting for him. |

Hutton and Sven?
This is just talking but I think Benning will sign a top 4 guy ( not named Hamhuis) . No one knows if by trade Or UFA. Personally I would prefer signing Yandle that only costs salary for 3 years.

That won't land you Barrie.
Would you trade Horvat for Hutton and Sven?
Barrie's value is probably higher. |

Yeah, McCann needs to put on a bit of weight. I still think he'll be very good down the road, so don't want to give up on him unless the return is excellent. Virtanen is gonna be good, but not a franchise player IMO. |

Anyways I think Benning will get a top 4 guy . I don't know who, but by the end of the summer we will see. |

If it's free agency it will naturally be an overpayment, which is OK for awhile as long as it isn't an anchor long term. |

At this point in time, need to trade assests that don't have a future in Van and sign FA's |

...but just moving up to 5th from 10th and taking a step back with Edler over Barry is not a good deal. Even with the 4rth. In the real world, they would walk away with their 10th still. - boonerbuck
Agreed. I never said anything about the 10th coming back, I think it would be the 5th plus either tanev or edler for Barrie straight-up. I would like the deal if it's Edler, Tanev is considerably younger. I think it's a pretty good deal for both teams, we really need a guy like Barrie. That being said, if JB thinks Tkachuk is elite, you cant make that deal |

If he is, we know JB is in full tank-mode. If they are serious about a playoff shot, we need to sign a top-4 d-man (in addition to resigning Hamhuis). |

I don't think you can make it anyways. We're just not at that stage. Teams that are closer like the Oilers should investigate a deal like that, but we need another couple of year of drafting and developing before we even think of a deal like that. |

I agree that Barriehas high value but because the Avs have a few key RFAs due for big raises and he might not be the choice to sign, I feel his value drops a bit. Just look at the roster and who they have to sign. Decisions have to made regardless. If they can't afford him or don't want to, how does that make him more valuable in terms of leverage?
He is still going to be highly sought after and I doubt we have more than others in a return but the only team I am worried about is the Oilers because they will overpay and lose. It's basically their motto. |

You don't want to get into a bidding war with a team that has far more assets than you do IMO. |

Vantel, this one is for you.
Last night I went to the store to buy a few beer and brought back a couple of bags of Jalapeño / Cheddar Doritos. I opened a bag and ate about half of it as I drank a pile of beer.
This morning, my wife ate the rest because they were sitting out when she got up. She put the baby down for a nap late this morning, and figured she was OK because she had licked her fingers.
She decided to pleasure herself.......which turned into a burning sensation. In fact, she literally ended up throwing cold water on the situation. Apparently, it wasn't a good move.
I told her that's what she deserved for eating my chips. |

I agree, I just meant if JB is actually thinking this is a playoff team (which I hope is just posturing).I think they ideally need to just stay the course, as you said, draft which means another bottom ten finish next year |

I'd love to trade the twins if they wished for it to a team like the Habs. You'd never get proper value, but it would be a great kick start. If they had the cap space, they are a team that could win a cup with them. |
