if P.L Dubois is available at 5 why not package Sbisa and the pick to Montreal for the 9th and Beaulieu , then we take Mccloed or a D-man . |

Because Beaulieu and Petry are more defensively responsible than Subban and an aging Markov lol.
I think we need to draft PL Dubois or Tkachuk. |

I would take Jost, Brown, Bean, Keller, Chychrun, Sergachev or Juolevi before I'd ever pick McLeod.
And nobody wants Sbisa. |

i wouldn't say "nobody" , he has been traded twice and we have seen bad players /contracts move quite often.
sure Yost would work or others i like Mcloeds game but i am no expert like those on this site by anymeans |

Well I'm an expert, just ask me
Truthfully I'd like to trade down with say Boston, they have the 14-28-32 picks, to acquire a couple of those kids. |

i like Tkchuck at 5 if available after that is Dubois better at 5 than say to later 1st's? i would lean towards trusting Bennings scouting and go after two over one |

Just draft one of those 2 at 5. we already have the 33rd pick too. Or you could get fancy and go after Barrie. Poor McCann has been traded a million times over already on here. But his name always pops up, with so much depth at C.
Personally, I'd move him to W and start him in the AHL. draft Tkachuk or Dubois. yawn.
46 year sand counting. Never had the 1st overall pick. Top 3 woulda been nice. Funny, the 1st year they change the lottery rules, it burns us. Woulda had #3 if it were last years rules.

That won't land you Barrie.
Would you trade Horvat for Hutton and Sven?
Barrie's value is probably higher. - golfingsince
That would be a step backwards. |

If it is straight up #5 for 14 and 28, there is no way I'm down with that.
Extra picks are nice but historically you get a good player a lot more often at 5 then you do later in the draft.
This team needs more elite talent and the most likely place you find it is in the top 5 of the draft.
The best trade down scenerio would be Arizona's 7th and 20th and I would be tempted but still think there is a large gap between 5 and 7. |

If the contract demands are the issue with Colorado, I wonder if they would be willing to move a different player to free up cap. They can't afford to let defenders go but maybe they would part with a forward like Duchene?

Id have to agree with this.
I hope oilers dont take tkachuk. Dubois not a bad pick but tkachuk a sure bet. He's also a london knight and they have produced a lot of very very high level latent in that franchise in recent years. That right there puts him ahead |

They have some big decisions to make. They have 16 RFAs to sign with McKinnon and Barrie being the top 2. I also think they have about 10 UFA's as well. They aren't in a situation where they would consider moving Duchene imo. Just alot of things up in the air. |

Both look pretty good to me but not sure I follow your train of thought of sure bets.
I do think the both those guys have the potential to be more than either of Horvat and Virtanen, not to take anything away from them. I really hope we don't move down just so JB can justify picking a Dman. |

Sedins will retire in a 2-4 years, McCann will be close to prime then, so not sure why people think we are full in the center position.

BPA is fine wherever we pick in the first round, need a first line centre and wingers to replace the Sedins, first pairing dman... we don't need a goalie though... need someone to generate offense. |
