At game last night, Ovi kept buzzing Geno on the Pens bench, calling him "Third line pizdá" with that gap-tooth venom typical of Rus on Rus gang vengeance. Keep your head down Pierre, lest someone mistake you for Lenin.

Just checked with my friend who did a supplementary major in Russian and studied abroad in St Petersburg for a translation. I think it's funny that this came from the guy that was invisible all night and recorded his first point of the season against the pens on a soft Oshie goal that never should have happend

Burns with the 25 pick eh? Seems like a reach
- dbell646

Yea, I dont get the warm and fuzzies with this pick. Too much of a project for a team that needs immediate help. Steelers have proven me wrong in the past though.

I don't think that applies to this goal. I don't think Oshie lifted the puck even a millimeter off the ice on that wrap around which makes the whole thing worse.
- Victoro311

It doesn't matter if the puck is up off the ice. Its the height/thickness of the ice that creates the illusion. The puck in the video showing this illusion is lying completely flat.

Colbert said he was the best bump and run corner in the draft, if thats true.. it's perfect for a blitz heavy team like the Steelers. My friend down here in Florida said he was a late bloomer in college but he's got good size and a good attitude.

I suppose that's good. But of course Colbert would talk him up. And Steelers play more zone than anything, which makes him an questionable fit. Again, I've learned not to second guess them too much. I couldnt believe we took Bell over Aurthur Brown or Shazier over Dennard.

My gut feel though is that the Steelers are putting too much stock into the six interceptions. They were mostly deflections by another player that Burns reaped the reward. Kind of like Jarvis Jones with all those sacks but extremely slow at the combine. If nothing else, Burns is boom or bust. Lots of analysts say he could be the top corner out of the draft and lots that had a 3rd or 4th round grade on him.

We took the best available CB. Drafting for need instead of for best player can bite you in the ass, but in the Steelers' case where we don't have any blaring holes anywhere on the roster except at DB and we're Super Bowl contenders now, I accept it. Now id like to find a way to score Jaylon Smith over the course of these next few rounds, but I'm sure 31 other teams would too, so I'm not getting my hope up.

If you watch the video it doesnt have to be off the ice. It just the angle.

Pens lost a tough one on the road. This is a good coaching staff, I am confident they will make the proper adjustments.

Two things I will be looking at Saturday-who will the Caps play on defense. They benched Dimitry Orlov and Nate Schmidt. And Holtby is confident from his .986 save percentage against Philly but if Pens can crack him like they did Lundqvist...

I see that now. But after you see the replay angle where it looks like the puck crosses the line, and then you see the replay angle from above the net knowing where the puck is supposed to be and knowing what to look for, you can actually kind of see the puck, and to me it looks like a goal.

Steelers deployed more zone coverage then any other team and that's one of his problem areas. Maybe with him in the fold they go more man

It was a goal. Even if it wasnt, what does it matter now? Wont change a thing.

EDIT: I still think its ridiculous the ref called it a goal from where he was but at the end of the day it crossed the line.

Trying to figure out which selection in the first round was more brutal - Apple to the Giants or the Steelers pick. Both sucked. Obviously the Giants reached for Apple.

I thought it was a goal too. Even if it wasn't actually a goal, it is now. No sense in crying over it. Time to just move on and kick some ass.

True. If we had played better this wouldn't even have been an issue. We would have gotten one more or the Caps would have gotten one less.

So my issue is that I know we're going to respond and play better tomorrow. If we don't then we might be in for a sweep, but this team always seems to pick it up after bad games. I'm wondering how the Caps are going to come out. It seems like they know they didn't play well ether. They could come out with an improved level too.

Think we've pretty much covered all we can from last nights game. However Cullen, Rust, Sheary, and Kunitz not at practice.

I think it's definitely the Giants here. Eli Apple was supposed to be available at our pick, yet the Giants took him a lot of picks before us. We took the best available corner. As I said in my post above, I'm fine with that. I'd like to take Fuller in the second round too.

If both Kunitz and Sheary are out tomorrow we're in trouble. We'll probably play 7 D again.

I thought the Raiders really reached on Joseph. I will say I personally wanted him as a steeler but coming off that injury it seemed like a big reach at 15.

There was no news on Kunitz. Typically taking a puck to the face won't keep hockey players out but the report was he was bleeding pretty heavily from the ear. That's scary.

I thought that was a good pick. I think it would be an asset for the Steelers to be able to man up on guys like AJ Green in their zone blitz schemes.

Lots of talent left in the 2nd. I'd like to see the Steelers trade up to either get in the top 5 picks of the 2nd round or trade up from their 3rd to get a 2nd pick in the first. Billings, Ragland, Fuller, or Jack would all be great values early in the first round but unlikely any of them fall to their current pick.

If they stay put and all of those guys are gone a safety like Cravens or Cash would be solid.
