As a Penguin fan that is what is most disappointing. No threat at all in OT. The aggression wasn't there.
- acdc1206

yep. thats the issue.

not whether a ref may have prematurely made what ultimately was the correct call.

i think he couldnt see it. if he called no goal i dont think it gets overturned and you would be here complaining it was in. he called goal and the replay was inconclusive so they stayed with the call on the ice. it's a pretty simple concept. you see white ice, i see a really awkward angle. the only good angle above the goal is obstructed.

You have absolutely no argument for why he can't make the call he made. Present some sort of argument other than, "there's no way."

the replay angle you are relying on is not the angle the ref saw the play. is that good enough?

Honestly, this is kind of a stupid argument. Not what you just said, but the entire back and forth.

I'm not relying on anything.

He wasn't wearing a camera in his eyes, so actually, I can't pretend to know his angle.

If the official didn't see it cross the line the easiest and correct call is to blow the play dead and go to review.

you are referencing 1 out of 4 replay angles where you kinda sorta see white ice. great. "looks" like a goal. ref is in the corner at a different angle. i dont think he can clearly see it cross the line. you do. congrats on the win; we wont agree. if he calls no goal i dont think its overturned and we are here with the same debate.

We had 4 less points and no halak for the last month of the season. It's not that big a gap.

Well, lets start from the referee and the call. Do you think it's possible for the ref to make that call and see it go in?
- Blackstrom2

Not the point of my argument. It has nothing to do with the referees. Everyone here is saying they saw white between the puck and red line on the replay. Which is not possible to determine with that small of a gap and from that angle.

I have no bias in your series, I'm not a fan of either and honestly think there should be a way you're both eliminated lol

I like how you're defending your stance without even watching the video that debunks your theory.

i'd like to dress a team that matches our identity. we claim to be a speed team but dress maatta and lovejoy and sit schultz and pouliot. im not as high on dp as some on this board, but i gotta think he would have outplayed maatta tonight.

So, what's the issue? You're complaining that he missed the call/had no true way of seeing it, so you want the game to have continued, even though you admit that the puck did in fact cross the line.
- Blackstrom2

LOL - yea, I'm not sure what he's going for. Say it wasn't called...they go up the ice and the Pens score, and then Trotz says 'no no no, get that (frank)ing ipad out' and lookey here, that Oshie 'chance' was in, then you'd probably be more pissed no?

And it is definitely in, you can see it from two different cameras. Caps were slugs for most of the game though, so I do feel his pain; losing when you basically run house is always frustrating.

He can skate at least. I think maatta has altered his approach due to his terrible lack of foot speed. He won't commit either way and as a result has bad gaps that he can't close. He puts himself in bad situations trying to prevent them.

maatta has been struggling for a long while. dont know what his deal is. but its something not good.

he was downright magical originally. speed or not.

Alot of unwarranted complaining tonight.

Other than the Wilson knee which had to have been missed by the refs I thought the officiating was pretty good tonight. They did a good job of letting the player decide the game. There were alot of letting them play, but I didnt see any bias at all..

As for the game, I didnt think either team was able to establish their game. We weren't able to use our speed very effectively to wheel and deal and the Caps weren't able to establish their cycle game either.

Shaping up to be a long series.

There is literally video replay, blown up and zoomed in, that they showed repeatedly, in which you can clearly see the puck crossing the line....
