Torts is awesome lol. I love that he doesn't give a flying donut what anybody else thinks and he says it how he sees it. It's refreshing.

Considering the talent both of these guys bring is close in comparison, I say CBJ wins the trade. Only reason being is that it was common knowledge to all teams GM's that Johansen was not happy with the situation and wanted out. That type of situation always handcuffs GM's and ultimately reduces the trade value. So for CBJ to get Seth Jones in return is a great victory IMO.

Nashville has been on the hunt for a number one cente for a long time. I recall that Spezza was rumored to go to Nashville, but nixed it with his NTC.

Can anyone confirm this?

Johansen wins because he will likely get some valuable playoff experience and doesn't have to deal with Torts anymore.

This is ridiculous, you can only look at this objectively in about six to eight years.

If the Jackets grab Austin Mathews, they win. They'd end up with a big up and coming D, and a new #1C.

If they don't, then I'd say Preds as of right now. They get their #1C, and they are deep enough on D that the loss doesn't hurt them that bad.

All about the D with you isn't it?

Torts is great from an interview standpoint, as a head coach these days not so much.

Nashville wins hands down. Got the all elusive #1 centre and in his prime production years. Sure they gave up a big piece in Jones, but they still have one of the best defences in the NHL with that subtraction.

Columbus gets a good piece in Jones, but whose their #1 centre now? Brandon Dubinsky? Boone Jenner? Alex Wennberg? They filled a hole but created a new one. Nashville didn't necessarily loose a whole lot in the short term.

Good point. That would certainly help the franchise quite a bit.

Nashville traded a 2nd/3rd pairing d man for a legit #1 center. It doesn't matter what Jones ceiling could be, right now RJ has cred as a #1 center. Jones has never played a full season as a number 1 D. You always go with the proven commodity in a deal like this, especially when that proven commodity is 23 years old! Win by Nashville and a serious threat to the rest of the central now.

Fair to a point. Jones would be getting more minutes on any other team in the league

I think NSH won this... but primarily because CBJ have Torts... the fans will like him, he will probably get them into the playoffs in a year or 2, but he will never succeed... him and elite talent do not mix... He does not know how to deal with the personality and ego elite players have... it doesn't matter what their names are all elite players have an ego - its part of what makes them great.

NSH wins though because IMO its harder to find a legit # line C than it is to find a #2 Dman - which I think Jones is. plus with Josi and Weber there he was never going to be anything more than a #3.
