Does Stamkos want to be in Columbus is the big question though. Ya they have a lot of good young players, so he might, but you don't swap franchise centres if ones just going to walk in a few months. You'd think they'd want to talk to his agent and have a deal hammered out first.
Still can't see trading Johansen ever turning out well for Columbus. |

Stamkos isnt the answer for teams looking to build. He needs to go to a team where he is an addition to the team and said team has better rounder players to support around him. Or he can play behind someone. Like Malkin in a sense. You dont build around Stammer. You add him to a team thats already got theyre model in place. Would be a huge mistake for CBJ to make that kind of deal. |

Sounds like the dumbest move of all time. Why trade Johanson for a guy you can get free this summer? Or trade your best player for a guy who can walk away from your team next summer. Makes no sense. |

Why would you even post this? Why would Stamkos ever want to play for CBJ and why would he ever consider wasting a year or two of his career playing for Torts?
Next post: Crosby to the Hurricanes (e5).
Cmon dude. If you're going to post something so completely unbelievable, the least you can do is back yourself up with some quotable proof of your discussions with your 'sources'. |

I'd agree with that assessment.
I'm not knocking Stamkos at all, but he's just not the same since his injury. Still an incredible player, one of my favourites, but I think he's an ideal fit for that 1B role, not the guy you peg all your hopes on. |

Ek.
How can you say Columbus has the cap space. They have 11 forwards signed thru next season at 41.65 million. That includes Johansen at a cap hit of 4. They do get bonus relief of 475K on Wennberg's ELC.
They have 4 D signed at 13.857 & 2 goalies at. 8.225. That gives them 17 players for a total of 63.732 million against the cap not counting Wenneberg's bonus cushion. Jenner, & Murray are both RFA's due significant raises. Even Karlsson also an RFA will need to be qualified at 10% raise over the .925 he's making this season.
At a new cap ceiling of say 74 million which appears generous & unlikely but lets work off that # that leaves about 10 million. If Johansen; picks & prospects, goes at 4 million & Stamkos returns at essentially 10. That would leave 4 million to resign Jenner, Murray & 4 more players to get to a 23 man roster!
Where's the available cap space you say Columbus has? |

The thing to consider is if he's going to ask for his monster payday in the summer it's going to have to be with a team like Columbus who's running with young talent on bargain deals. That or a team that's rebuilding, but that's pretty much writing off a cup. None of the competitive teams can afford him, because they're already paying their own stars. |

He is for the most part a one trick poney. Even before his injury. You either pick him up to be a 1b or play wing with a better actual Center. |

Ya. He's just lost that extra edge since the injury which is unfortunate, cause he was one of those players that was half a step above most of the other top end talent. Like I said, still a great player though, still top end talent. |

Any team who trades for him to be theyre #1 Center will be making a huge mistake. Let him fall to the market and attempt to sign him. |

Why in the world would a non playoff team give up ANY prospect for a rental that will be idle come april? |

Because logic and facts and truths and cap considerations have no place on Hockeybuzz. |
