Alright fair enough! Question for the day, I think we all agree we have a log jam at Defense with Smid back in the mix, with our goalies and maybe to a lesser extent at center. Who is the first player to be dealt to what team and for what?

I think the problem is that the players we want to move no one really wants.

Smid, Eng, Bollig, Stajan, Jones, Raymond, Hiller, etc.

In goal it really depends on how all 3 guys are playing and on the teams that end up with goalie injuries .... At this point most teams have already solidified their goalie situation...it is very possible that we could see one of ramo or hillier sent down to the ahl

On defence I could really see it staying as is ... Having 7 D men is not the worst thing to have. Now if someone out of the guys with one way deals really shines then there could be some movement

As for the center position it's pretty much locked in with monny backs Bennett Stajan ... Any of the other guys who aren't in the lineup won't likely garner much in a trade ...possibly late round picks or just waived and sent down

Granlund is most likely being shopped already ...shore is an interesting guy as we haven't really seen him play much ...colborne isn't going anywhere ....Russell is a guy I'd almost rather see stay over wideman ...he should come cheaper too

Ok so take this how ever you want I know I put little faith in this, but my buddie know's Glencross's dad really well and apparently he said that all the guys hate Bob Hartley. I think hes just a little sour with how things have played out. My point is that i have a hard time believing that but i think your probably right once your on Hartley's bad side its game over.

I think Coyle plays RW mostly (could be mistaken).

I'd look to rebuilding teams like Arizona and Carolina. Maybe we can toss them some veteran guys along with some NHL ready prospects to help insulate their draft picks?

I honestly think Smith is done, so Arizona could be a landing spot for one of our goalies.

Maybe some combination of:

Smid/Wideman
Granlund/Shore
Bollig/Raymond
Hiller

for a package of picks/prospects?

I'd prefer for us to deal Smid and Wideman first but I think we might have to prepare for the possibility of dealing away Russell instead.

steve webb was a clutterbuck like player for NYI. Just hit everything that moved, hard. Short career.

Nothing wrong with ferland being a player like that. upside, he's glenX on his best season but puts more effort out there. Down side, he's a faster bollig.

I think clutterbuck when he was in minnesota is a good comparison. he's a 3rd liner. I think we're shooting high thinking he'll play top 6 unless he turns into that big body that pounds away in front of the net allowing everyone else to skate and gets the dirty goals

Ask any of the Montreal Canadiens from the 70's that won 5 consecutive Cups how many of them liked Scottie Bowman. I remember a few interviews of players from that era that said he was terrible to play for. Larry Robinson said he hated almost everything about Bowman as a coach, and then followed that statement up with "But he forced us to be better, and he made us win, I wouldn't have it any other way!"

Steve Shutt was one of Bowman's favorite whipping boys, he said Scottie was a pain in the @$$ to play for and you could never make him happy, but he'd rather play for a tough coach that he hated and win 5 Cups, than play for a coach he liked and never win 1.
