His cap hit isn't that bad, but yea...moving Sharp and taking on salary would be an issue. Afterall, the only reason to move Sharp is because of the cap.

It's not, but half of it is worth more than a whole ELC player.

Raanta to NYR for Haggerty.

What? Is this something that you want/hope? Has it happened? I hate posts like this.

The #Blackhawks have acquired forward Ryan Haggerty from the Rangers in exchange for goaltender Antti Raanta.

It's done. Not much on Haggerty. Was a FA signing last year by NYR.

22 years old - 6'0/200lb RW.

Figured Raanta was gone - someone on here called him to the Rangers (Wiz or Al maybe?)

I know. Neilsen would be fine with me, but we need to be trading Sharp for futures and possibly one low cost prospect. I just don't think the fit is there for Neilsen. Islanders have some promising D-men, I'm sure we could do business with the Isles...but not for Neilsen I don't think (mainly because of the money).

Haggerty makes 925k next year... and then is a RFA.

Don't have a 2nd that went to Boston in the Boychuk trade.
- Vukota

Would you toss in Jesse Graham with the 3rd?

Looks like another body to bring in to compete. One year in the AHL....34 points in 76 games, has some size, plays RW.

You're probably right but Nielsen is in the last year of his deal and I think he is making under 3 million for the year. Not a bad last minute fall back option

There it is, the first "we got who?" trade of the offseason. Appears bad on the surface since no one know who Haggerty is. 6' 180lb RW who was signed out of ECAC. Dont even know what league that is

Raanta was 750K, so it's a wash almost. I think this pretty much settles it that Crow WILL NOT be leaving this year.

ECAC is college. One of the better conferences.

Sounds like a guy they targeted out of college and missed on. 43 points in 35 games at RPI in '13-'14, and 33 in the A last year. Sounds like a decent energy liner with some upside. No reason you couldn't qualify him at the end of the season even if he's not great, just to keep your system stocked.

And if he doesn't pan out...a cheap one year place holder.

Driving a hard bargain with that 4th, but I would take that deal (or at least push for the retained salary and then take it). Can Nielsen still win draws?

With ranntas 1.89 GAA i am surprised Hawks didnt get a pick at least too or a defensive prospect.

Yea, it seems a low price for Raanta, but he is still very unproven, he didn't play the 30 games like Cam Talbot played. Haggerty is listed as the #2 RW spec in the Rangers system and does seem to be coming along.

It is just another young body to compete for time in Chicago next year.
