Teams that don't spend to the cap don't care about the cap hit. So I think there will be plenty of teams who will want 81 as a part timer who can teach their young guys a few things about the 200 ft game especially at 1 mill a year.
- busmaster

Agreed, he is a great example/teacher, I think Hossa is 7.9 Mil next year, then 4mil the year after, then 4 years of 1 mil, What are the odds of him playing 4 years at 1 mil per versus retiring ? But as was said in an earlier thread, Hossa and Wirtz have probably already discussed and agreed on a exit strategy to the contract and we will be the last to know what that is

I think Hossa is the only one who's virtually 100%, because of his contract structure. One can never say never with anybody else. Kane back to Buffalo, Toews back to Winnipeg at the end of his career, anything can happen. I think the only three who have zero chance of being moved under any circumstances this summer would be 2, 19, and 81. Anybody else is greater than 0%. It's still a business.
- 333inthe3rd

It is a business and Kane sells tickets. They are not going to sign him to an eight year contract and trade him before the contract even starts. Its bad business.

Yeah, the person that took the swipe at me, that I am not a professional scout.
I actually take this very seriously and put all my love and energy behind it and my eyeballs are as good as anybody's and maybe better. I don't have a staff to gather intel like McKenzie Button, and ISS.

I stand by my results and they were better than any of these professional experts.

I said professional SCOUTS employed by the Blackhawks, not TV people or bloggers. Sorry wiz, I know you take it seriously and put a lot of effort into your hobby, but it is the scouts job (livelihood) to observe and make recommendations based on hours upon hours of scrutinizing talent from around the world. Their jobs depend on bringing back complete dossiers on everything these kids do and how they act. Sorry if you're offended that I put more stock into what they see, compared to you or those other people you mentioned (who are also NOT professional scouts.

My guess...Hossa plays out his contract, unless a major injury stops him.

I would be stunned if he just up and quits.

Just for the record, it wasn't it me, it was the guy answering my post. I was saying i was disturbed because Hawks were drafting guys you didn't even have as draftable.

It truly was a DARK point on this thread!

I see what you did there

The last two days probably cost the Hawks Richards and Desi. No way they can sign those two without having completed some of the necessary salary purge.

Can you please provide me with the upcoming lottery numbers as well?

Aren't you the guy that had the icon of Stan with 'Failed' stamped on his head? Obviously there no penalty for you for being abjectly wrong over, and over and over.

I don't get the worrying about Hossa? As of now he's paying next season that's all that matters for now. To dwell on the unknown is a waste of time.

And to think that some find Sharp's 2 years at 5.9 too pricey...

Sharp's resume is still superior when compared with ROR... what a piece of work.

Good luck Buffalo....but after what Pegula has shown, he'll pay...and then hockey fans in Buffalo "will pay".

(I'm not directing this at you BetweenTheDots)

Sorta like people thinking they know anything about what's going on behind closed doors in the 'hawks war room right now.

"Stan's a bum", "McEgo", "infighting in the FO"....jesus christ, it doesn't take long for the stupid stick to make its appearance once again.

The one thing I noticed is what's going on up in Edmonton, with Chiarelli there and seeing what Boston is doing, outside of McDavid, driving the price up on Dougie, firing a couple of scouts, draft day trades very curious to see where this team is in a few years.

There's no arguing that team has some talent. Personally, I'll believe the hype on McDavid after some professional games (really Hawerchuck???? "skates like Orr, thinks like Gretzky, and moves like Lemieux"....I'm SURE he'll be able to live up to those expectations!
)
I think they're still shaky in goal and D, but if they can add some pieces there, they may put a nice little run together.

I'm 100% sure you are right. I'd also add that as a cap team the Hawks will have great use for every dollar they can spend. Hard to see them allocate 5.3 mill to 81 when he can no longer play 15 productive minutes a game. Actually the way I just said it its hard to imagine 81 ever not being able to play 15 productive minutes a game...

Get to work Stan!

Ok so Bowman has two pieces he has to move, Sharp and Bickell. Moves Raanta. In the prime spot (Draft) to move those players for picks, does not. Even if you dont get what you want pick wise, you still move the salary and get 2,3,4 round picks etc. Alot of your team is built on mid round picks anyway. So yes I will give Bowman space to do what he wants and he is behind the last 2 Cups, but damn I dont see how the trades werent made. Bickell, yeah I can see a delay over possible injury concerns. Sharp!?! JJ brought up the Dallas thing a couple times now. Not all that great to move him to a Division rival, but the picks and a top D prospect coming back?
Sharp would have been a high priority for many teams. I just hope Stan didnt over think this and let deals walk. We need to move that salary... PDQ

Lets hope Stan has something on the stove.

- z1990z

You understand this was just a rumor on this website right? This was not like a reported event that Dallas even offered the Hawks anything.

Never thought I'd say this, but I have more faith in the market mechanism - but less faith in Stan's ability to "know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em" - and how to go toe-to-toe with other GMs.

Three Cups - I'll give him high marks for that (however much credit he deserves for the first) - but I don't think trading is a strong point.

- StLBravesFan

Great post. But where I will give him a "pass" on the trades is I think his hands are sometimes somewhat tied by the "organization."
