I cant tell and ive never been a scput but it looks like Haggerty has a very quick release and no hesitation to dhoot the puck. This is from 2 seasons ago. I have no idea how he was last season or how he is on the defensive side of the ice.
https://youtu.be/2bQo5A6dE9Q - mrploves33
The defensive zone coverage in some of those clips is simply atrocious. Haggerty looks like he has a great shot, but almost all his scores were from standing still position....very few open rink breakaways or dirty goals. If the puck does end up on his stick it certainly has a chance to end up in the net. Of course, there is more to the game than just scoring goals.... |

That was Nillsen's demand from the Islanders. He hasn't made that demand to my knowledge of the Hawks. That was also 2 seasons ago. - tredbrta
I don't know if that would be considered earth shattering news...
If Leighton isn't back there is a hole in Rockford. |

K. Understood. If they did hesitate last year or before or at this years draft, that's on them. Like I said, still worried some of this will be the same situation as with Leddy.
Realistically have to move Sharp, Bickell and Versteeg, not going to be easier now that draft is over. Goes past first week of FA and they are screwed. - vabeachbear
Got you and....I think many think bigger contracts aren't as difficult to move as they are and when everyone knows you have to sell there is little if any leverage. |

@TheFourthPeriod: Whoa... Coyotes acquire Nicklas Grossmann and contract of Chris Pronger from Flyers for Sam Gagner and a conditional 2016 4th or 2017 3rd
@FriedgeHNIC: Pronger cap hit $4.9M. Actual salary: $575,000. As @TGfireandice adds, could go into the Hall of Fame on Monday.
Hey 'Yotes -- Still room for Bickell to help you hit that cap floor? |

It is total BS - but it's the template for how the Hawks and Hossa can handle his contract and recapture penalties should he decide to retire before the end of its term.

Yotes just helped out PHI with cap issues.
ANA was helped by CAR by taking Wiz off their hands.
Anytime Bowman wants to make a move to clear some space... that'd be grreaat. |

Philly is going to buyout Gagner opening up more cap space. Maybe they would take Sharp. I know Phiy has quite a few D prospects. |

Here's more on some of the hawk's selection from ISS
Graham Knott
ISS Hockey
Incredible to watch is development over the past three seaons. He possesses good tools and drive for scoring. Puts himself in situations where he can be a difference maker and always seems to be involved in scoring chances. Needs to learn to battle and create space for himself. Plays with a slight edge and is reliable defensively as he reacts to the play well, and maintains good focus and effort in all zones. As he continues to develop and add to his frame, he he begins to show more and more promise to make a smooth transtistion at the next level. Excels on the PK
Dennis Gilbert
ISS: Upside as a two-way defender. Good size and strength in containing the opposition below the goal line and in front. Reads the rush, boxes out well. Good balance and uses his leverage in battles. Average puck skills but a good shot. Makes a good first pass, and has a good active stick. Angkes well, and snuffs out opponents. Needs to improve his foot speed continue to get stronger and work on puck skills, but already showing improvement in these areas.
Radovan Bondra
ISS: Imposing figure on the ice.Has a massive frame which he utilizes well on the PK on the wall. Has the tools to be a physical force but needs to consistently do so. Skating continues to improve. Better as assort player who gets to the front. Strong upside.
Joni Tuulola
ISS: Second year eligible has proven he can play in Finnish pro with HPK. Very smart on the puck and keeps things simple. Takes charge on the puck and has confidence yo advance in his own zone. Has great positioning. limiting the time and space attackers have. Long reach Quietly effective. Reads the play well. No panic under pressure. Good first pass. Good decisions. Good hands good size and understanding of play. Needs to get even stronger and thicker. A very under-rated prospect. |

Someone mentioned him in a previous thread, but Ken Appleby is worth signing IMO.
http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=116643
Just won a Mem Cup and had a tryout with the Hawks last summer. I was at the Rookie Tourney where he played; he's big, moves well and battle in the net.
He just went undrafted and for a team with little to no G depth, would be a solid pick up (especially is Leighton doesn't come back or Nilsson doesn't come over). |

SJ is in a jam in terms of what's available on the open market - Fasth and Ramo are the best options after Niemi... woof.
Maybe they take a flyer on Cam Ward. 1-year left at 6.3M - guy's playing for another contract. CAR has Lack now and could scoop someone to back him up. |

Anybody that thinks Cro has a weak catching hand hasn't seen Nillsen's. - RickJ
We're talking about depth not a starter and his numbers were pretty good. With the right coaching??? I see at least an asset in him to trade. |

They traded Raanta for a college free agent they could have signed last year and not exactly standing out in the AHL. Raanta didn't warrant a pick yesterday? |

Pretty much the same, anyone could of signed him. |

Ok so Bowman has two pieces he has to move, Sharp and Bickell. Moves Raanta. In the prime spot (Draft) to move those players for picks, does not. Even if you dont get what you want pick wise, you still move the salary and get 2,3,4 round picks etc. Alot of your team is built on mid round picks anyway. So yes I will give Bowman space to do what he wants and he is behind the last 2 Cups, but damn I dont see how the trades werent made. Bickell, yeah I can see a delay over possible injury concerns. Sharp!?! JJ brought up the Dallas thing a couple times now. Not all that great to move him to a Division rival, but the picks and a top D prospect coming back?
Sharp would have been a high priority for many teams. I just hope Stan didnt over think this and let deals walk. We need to move that salary... PDQ
Lets hope Stan has something on the stove. |

The leverage comes from how big the market is - how many teams are after your guy - has little to do with your dire situation.
The problem with waiting is that suitors drop out because they've solved their issues from other sources.
It seems (don't know anything for sure) that that's what happened ladt year with Leddy - had there still been more teams looking at Leddy on October 1, the return would have been better. |

Yes, so? Just because they didn't draft him doesn't mean they shouldn't expect a return back.
Maybe Haggerty is better than his numbers suggest? Those vids show a nice shot. They also show a lot of space and time - something he will not see in the pros. |

Yeah, the person that took the swipe at me, that I am not a professional scout.
I actually take this very seriously and put all my love and energy behind it and my eyeballs are as good as anybody's and maybe better. I don't have a staff to gather intel like McKenzie Button, and ISS.
I stand by my results and they were better than any of these professional experts.
