The Devils have a completely empty farm system. I almost wish their pick was a bit lower - I think it is unlikely that they would trade out of it no matter how much was offered to them.
To *some team around #10*:
- Isles pick
- Both our seconds
- Grigs
To Buffalo: #10ish pick
The truth is that at this point we probably already have too many bodies in our system (you're only allowed 50 contracts at a time) and tons of kids coming. Quality over quantitiy. - Slump Buster
The offer could be tweaked depending on who is involved, but I definitely agree. A few of these kids need to be traded. In a year or two, I can see one of Baptiste, Bailey, Fasching or Compher traded as well.

I don't see any of that group moving unless it was to bring in a current top 6 forward. I think just about anyone else in the organization is fair game. I'd even be open to moving next year's 1 for a current NHL player (ROR or equivalent).

The equivalent is basically an oozing pool of dumpster juice.

I thought the Patrick Sharp supporters have all ran for the caves. Again.....
Why do people think he's so great. How does he fit this rebuild? He had a terrible year on an awesome team. He's 33 and will be 34 mid season. The Sabres will highly..highly likely not be sniffing the playoffs next year. The year after, I see a finish in the 8-10 range. So let's say we make the playoffs in 2 years from now. Sharp would be 36. And we wouldn't even be serious contenders. So then, let's say, magically we are serious contenders in 3 years from now. That would make him 37 in the playoffs. So we've got a bunch of 20 some year olds, a couple free agent 30 year olds an Patrick 37 year old Sharp. Tell me where in this universe does that make sense. As a free agent, fine, sign him for a few years. I'm sure he'll be grossly overpaid. But to use a first round asset on him is extremely counter productive. - TheSabresTaco
It makes sense because you want your young centers playing with veteran talent. I don't want Ecihel or Reinhart playing with duds like we have had in our lineup for years.

Sharp won't cost you a 1st either. - sbroads24
I think most people would be ok with it if the price wasn't high. I like Sharp but not at that age. That said, if our 2nd second would get him I'd roll the dice.

I would prefer 2 guys a few years younger, but sharp would be perfect for the next 2 years

Veteran talent can be free. Sharp's not exactly a team role model. I'd give Chicago the Isles 2nd for him. Anything more, he can go make like a tree and (frank) off.
Yeah, that. Did you take notice when Vanek and Roy went to the Children's hospital? Doesn't mean they're good veteran leaders that help guide the kids professionally.

He has 2 years left, I expect us to compete for the playoffs after next season.
He isn't a must have player, but for a 2nr rounder, him playing with Eichel or Reinhart for 2 years might be worth it
There will be a bidding war for him, especially amongst playoff contenders. And I'm willing to bet they'll pay much more than Tim Murray will be willing to pay. Count on it. He doesn't even come close to fitting the mold of this team when it comes to trading assets. If the Hawks are horny for 50th overall, then so be it. But it's just not realistic.

you could do a lot worse for a top 6 then that
biggest weakness I see on that group is moulson on the second line - homiedclown
Agreed. I don't think there will be a good 1RW available this offseason that is young and fits the rebuild, might as well go with a stop gap like Sharp

That's not really true to say.
This next season is when they are going to have to shed more salary because of Toews/Kane. His age and salary make him one of the odd men out. - sbroads24
Oh I definitely think he'll be a trade candidate. I just don't think he's being traded to this franchise. I'm pretty certain Murray is gearing up to blow his load on an asset that's 5-10 years younger than a declining Sharp.

ROR will look good in the Blue and Gold wearing #90
