Kessel phaneuf bozak what's that 19.5 mil in cap in the summer. I agree you may not "win" the kessel trade but you can't keep him or it will be the same thing year after year. - jake24242
Dumbest (frank)ing mentality ever. The trade worked for both teams until Boston royally (frank)ed it up. |

My guess is that its his creation and baby, doesnt want to see it sold off in the hopes he gets better so he can resume the site.
If his health as bad as it is, im sure he doesnt want to deal with the sale and running of it right now. - DDM-Coga
This statement looks pretty accurate. |

No one is talking about the Boston leaf trade.... We are saying trading him now or in the summer from the leafs. |

Exactly. The likes of Staal, Marleau, etc. or any player isn't going to fix this mess. Blow the damn thing up already. Team is in terrible shape in almost every way. Cap/contracts, prospects (decent at best...terrible for a team who has made the playoffs once in 11 years), current roster makeup....depressing - clark_griswold
Really?
The Leafs haven't beat the best teams in the league this year? They don't need to 'blow it up'.
I'm not saying there aren't problems- but I think they are leadership problems.
RC gone is a start- Dion next... You move those two all of the sudden guys realize that anyone can be moved, and hopefully start playing more consistent hockey.
Agreed the prospects could look better considering the team has done so poorly for so long...

Why would the Leafs want a 35yr old center on the decline? Where do these rumors even come from? |

So you wana move dion and get better from it? Ya not happening you arnt moving a 29 year old D at 7 mil for a player that helps us more right now. You move him and that starts a rebuild not a retool. |

Admittedly Leafs would have to retain some of his salary, but if you don't think a team heading to the playoffs wouldn't give up a high pick & prospect to grab Dion (especially if he was a 3 or 4 d man on that team) you're nuts.
Do we get better immediately? No. But Phaneuf is not Captain material, and we both know it, so why wait to move him?

No one is talking about that trade. If you trade Kessel now, the player you are acquiring will not be as good. That is all we are saying. Right now, Toronto and BOSTON would love to have Seguin. |

probably not Schwartz, hes a big cog in that team, really under rated. They would want to move Berglund first if they could, Rattie in the AHL probably too.
But not sure if all the value is there without Schwartz |

I agree he could be trade for picks and prospects but that contradicts what u just said that's a rebuild if you take away dion and replace his ice time with what gardiner def be tank nation. Plus those puck and prospects don't help the leadership issue you presented you get true leadership from playoff experience and no one is available that is better then dion. You don't trade away those players. |

Beating the best teams in the league really doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. The Oilers have beaten MTL, TBL, NYI, NYR, and LAK. Big whoop. |

Colorado needs a D desperately. Make a package for ROR and sign him for $6-$7 mil long term. |

Just the whole "winning the trade" mentality. It's a losers mentality and usually celebrated by fans of losing teams. Just don't like it. |

Yes they do, but with MacK, EJ, Barrie, and ROR (if they don't move him)...they all need new contracts in the same offseason. They need to shell out the big money D contract to EJ first. Hes such a rock for that team, they would be lost without him.
If ROR goes, my guess they are moving that money around, not relocating it in 1 player |

Don't really follow there is a winner or loser or tie for evey single trade. If you trade Crosby for Colton Orr you wouldn't consider that a loss trade for Pitts? Come on. |

If they move Oshie, Rattie has to be his replacement but that makes a huge hope on the RW depth if both are moved. Packaging Oshie & Berglund up makes the most sense since they can insert trade target on the LW side and call up Rattie to balance out the Top 9 again |
