Who was talking about you? We're talking about the dude who reps the flyers
- Dcoms

Everyone is always referring to me when they have something vaguely insulting to say, and I take it and run with it.

Jagr DID have an illegal curve, lets do this!!

I know the flyers suck this year and flyers fans in general don't offer the most stimulating conversations unless you can discern the meaning of one click and grunt pattern from the next in order to exchange basic thoughts with each other, but why do you come here, to your biggest rivals thread? As soon as any of us see what team you represent we just don't care what you think. It's like a Mongol in a Hells Angle's clubhouse. And yet you're here every day? It boggles the mind.
- Dcoms

Don't lump me into that group, I enjoy talking to other fans from different teams, it's nice to get an opinion from people who don't have their homer goggles on... not to mention he's here on a daily basis, and as far as I've seen actually does offer stimulating conversations, reasoning, and opinions... soo... yeah... about that....

I like talbot, but do we need another third/fourth line player? Your fascination with ROR is mindboggling.
- Oneonta Penguin

No, you're right, we don't need more tweeners. But if Sutter is going the other way (which in this case, he is)...then he helps make up for the loss of Sutter.

My fascination with ROR is that he's a really good player and the cost to acquire is likely much better than other big names.

Interesting. I actually think the opposite.

I think it would be worth it but not easily done outside of including 87, 71, 72, or 58.

- 87_71_11_29

It depends on how intelligently the Oilers look at it, so Mactavish(who has no balls to make any deals) would have to be removed. But if they come to accept the obvious, that it's over for them this season and they do need to rebuild the rebuild, it makes more sense to move one player for multiple assets and depending on who you want to bring in as your next coach, how those assets will be utilized in a new system. But the Penguins have 3 23 years old 6'4" 220 pound 2 way defensemen, and a couple 20 year old future all star defensemen, that plus 2 outstanding goalie prospects a 3c who could easily play 2c who actually exhibits some leadership skills to boot and 2 forward prospects in europe and a top pairing defenceman who is expendable and could be traded to another team to get whatever else they need. Tons to work with, but it's too much cost for the Penguins especially if Hall went down with a career ending injury.

Any trade that involves a player of Hall's ability will create a ton of interest from other NHL teams and, more likely than not, an overpayment on their part.

Maatta seems too valuable to move at this point. He is on an entry-level contract and on our top pairing. Watching Maatta play for the past two seasons leaves me with the impression that he could an incredible defensemen.

If the right deal is in place, I would consider it, but that seems incredibly unlikely given the current circumstances.

Agreed, ROR is a beast. Around a 50 point scorer, doesn't take a lot of penalties, defensively responsible. Sign me up.

EDIT: Not to mention he looks like the dude from Vikings.

Ah okay, let me rephrase:

You're not getting Taylor Hall (if he's available, which I doubt) for a bunch of 2nd/3rd line players, a 1st, and a high-potential yet completely unproven prospect.

Better?

- jmatchett383

Let's be real, where does the Taylor Hall bidding start? A bona fide NHL player (probably a defenseman), a blue chip prospect, and a first round pick?

The one day I get an opposing fan to mutually agree on a trade, and it has to be today. Wtf happened in the last 5 pages?

Bartley, agree with us on the ROR deal and we promise to have both Downie and Farnham in the lineup to fill your penalty-taking quota.

Why? Why would you not want a defensively responsible player that puts up near 30 goals and 50 points and isn't in the sin bin all the time? We have Downie for penalty minutes.

Penalty minutes to Bartley is like puck possession to Mike Johnston

Only knock I have on him is he isn't a physical player (averages around 20-25 hits a season).

So for him to be at the top of the league in take aways is even more impressive once you realize he doesn't use his body to do that, just with hard back checking and stick lifts.

That's why he plays so well with Duchene, he would strip the puck and instantly be looking for Dutch to enter the zone with speed. Their cycle game is pretty impressive once they start going

How about Letang, Maatta, and a 1st? Edmonton gets the big pieces it needs on the back end, and a draft pick to help with the rererebuild. Might even keep them from needing to trade all their other big pieces.

Nice word.

No. Centerpiece of the trade is Letang or Maatta, but not both. We can't trade both our young-ish top pairing defenseman for a winger.

I was kidding, ROR would be a very nice pick up. Maybe he could blind side hip check someone like Klinkhammer in his first game. That always puts people in my good graces.

I don't disagree, but that's the kind of hurt a Hall trade is going to cause imo.
