that depends... with several d on elc's, kap and bb on elc or 2nd contracts... and the ability to find cheap depth players, i.e comeau's and downie's, thats not so insane.

I can see it your way also, and do think he would be awesome on the Pens. I'm just not risking having 60% of the cap twirled through six players, as well as losing significant depth through the move.

Go easy champ! It's the Internet, everyone's a tough guy and you need to have thick skin.

It was also simply an opinion.

if it cost sutter, dp, 1st and maybe bb, for example... pens could afford to lose dp and the 1st due to depth, sutter would sting but goc would have a shot, if not a 3rd line center could be obtained at the deadline... and hall would replace bb on the depth chart. next year sunquist or a fa replaces sutter. pens still have letang/despres/maatta/bortz/scuds/doumalin/harrington without signing martin or erhoff. pens would survive the depth loss and have a top winger locked up for years at a reassonable contract

There is no relative middle gound package the Penguins could put together to get Hall. It would either be the biggest steal or biggest overpayment possible.

Kunitz and martin stabalize the team this year.

Kunitz stays on for rest of his contract as veteran experience, something edm needs more of.

Two top, nhl ready def prospects helps with the future of the team.

And two draft picks, which will be on edm to use well

- ricer

Edmonton is bad. Why would they trade for two veterans, one which would definately leave after this year in Martin and have to give up one of the best forwards in the game. Why the need to stabalize the team this year? There is nothing stable about it.

You are not getting Taylor Hall for a bunch of 2nd/3rd line players and a 1st. Not happening. No way, no how. Because, if he truly is available (which I doubt he is), you would be competing with 28 other teams, and the packages they could offer would be way more substantial and appealing to a rebuilding team like Edmonton.

Alright... enough of the Hall stuff... Even if we would get him, that trade doesn't happen until the summer.

Back to the current Pittsburgh Penguins. I am interested to see how Bryan Rust plays tomorrow night if he is indeed on a line with Malkin.

Yeah man, like Matchett from Mantua we'd have to add to that. And what would be used to get a Sutter replacement? That would be clearing out more depth.
