I like the sounds of this. Hopefully the Oil can meet some needs through the Yotes. |

Quite the 180 going from this team is a lock for the playoffs to there's never been a better time to tank. |

Did you think Nashville would lead the west as well? Or that Calgary and Vancouver would be where they were at this point? |

No poop, that's because I don't try to convince myself that the Oilers can get gold for garbage. You Leaf fans should try it. |

Doan is 35+ deal with a NMC. your stuck with him until that contract expires. Besides the Coyotes would never move him. Let's get real. |

Yes, I said they were a playoff team. I was wrong. BUT I still think that there's a chance they could make it - say if Gagner gets better ice-time and they pick it up a bit. There are things to like here, but at this point, sitting outside looking in and with the stats suggesting we're lucky to be that close, no point in holding fast to my pre-season thoughts when it's clearly not working.
Still, they could keep the team together and make a run, but my point is that 8th isn't exactly the best thing to be shooting for. |

To be fair, I've been suggesting a tank since prior to last seasons deadline. |

Come on Potatoes, you can do better than that. Maybe that package gets you Yandle. But I'd rather be getting a younger higher ceiling centre for him. Vermette alone should fetch a first from a team near the top of the standings or a second from a bad team. |

Jimmy my boy, if the Coyotes playoff hopes hinge on Gangner getting an increase in ice time....well...I just do t know what to say to that. |

The Leafs don't really need an offensive defenseman with Phaneuf, Franson, Gardiner and Reilly on the roster. Plus, they should never trade Kadri, let alone for something they don't really need.
Hell, they should be trying to lose too. |

That's not exactly what I meant. I just meant that there was every reason for optimism coming into the season that they would take Domi and Samuelson and Reider and see if Gagner could live up to his billing. I don't think they gave him that chance.
But, the hopes don't hing on that. The hopes hinged on an excellent Dgroup, above average goalie and a young group of forwards that would produce more than expected.
But, I was wrong b.c Smith is below average, the kids aren't here, and the coach plays Vermette and Doan like its 2006.
Also, I was dumb to think a team icing Crombeen, Klinkhammer, Moss and Chipchura would be in anyway good. |

Never trade Kadri? Not even for one of the 350 or so superior players in the National Hockey League? |

Experiencing a little "regression"? - Kevin R
More accurately, I was hoping for the team to play above their heads. I just didn't think that doing so would garner them 3 wins above last. I wouldn't even use that word if I was a Flames fan. The ride down is going to suck.
PS I hope they do make it and prove everyone wrong. It's not impossible. |

Well, if it's in a package for an elite player, sure. But generally, I see a guy who scored at a 75 point pace on the third line during the lockout and whose coach plays him below Bozak despite the fact that the stats all say Kadri is superior. In fact, I think it's pretty much universally acknowledged that Carlyle is the worst coach in the NHL. |

Nah Jimmy, you weren't dumb, just optimistic before the season started, no different than Florida, Toronto and Edmonton fans.
