How predictable. Justin Wilson blows.

Easily one of the biggest disappointments this year on the roster.

Should be an interesting offseason. Let's see if that cheap ass Nutting ponies up to keep Martin and Liriano.

Deal. I hope I'm wrong. This team could use ever cent of cap space.

I'll look forward to the brew.

Not a chance. I see no reason why he'll suddenly open up his checkbook now.

Scuderi with the 3rd star of the game even though spaling had 2 assists and sundqvist got the other goal. They're doing everything they can to boost his value huh?

going to be hard to leave Oskar off this team, I like that he is a big body guy that loves to be in front of the net. He has a good shot, lots of garbage goals.
- Thorny

He sure has made a name for himself this preseason.

The guy is a Billionaire. How is it possible that he's convinced the Pittsburgh area that he's on a tight budget? It's amazing.

You're not the first to say it. Be prepared to play defense though. Apparently advanced stats are greater than playing good hockey.

Indeed.

Few more days till real hockey! Can't wait!

Sorry I have to say it, Spalling, Goc and Comeau make a fantastic 4th line, I love the compete level even if advanced stats don't agree with me, my eyes like what they see.
- Dcoms

I agree on Goc and Comeau...haven't seen anything yet from Spaling but to be fair, i didn'tsee tonights game off the DVR yet.

Sundqvist as a possible 4th line center reallyyy makes Sutter expendable. I'm not looking to give him away but I do think his trade value is higher than what us in pPittsburghfeels he is worth.

I'm also glad someone else on this board mentioned Kunitz. I know these are fighting words and its just preseasonbut he hasn't looked particularly sharp.

Hornqvist is awesome all the way around.

Spaling is just so....conservative. He doesn't seem to do anything bad, but he doesn't achieve much more than a 4th liner would. Maybe he's saving himself, but he seems to just position himself and then do little else.

i predict that the pens have the number one power play at the end of the year. with erhoff and letang on the blue line and crosby workin the half wall. horney and kunitz all up in the goalies face. they looked good last night. yeah i know that leaves out malkin but we might be able to field 2 bad ace powerplay units.

fluery looked pretty solid as well.

No way do you not have Malkin playing the half wall on your #1. He will take the spot previosly occupied by Neal and Hornqvist will get first unit time at netfront. That is your best chance to score.

Now, one nice thing about this is you don't have to use Kunitz there and you can let him play the half wall on the second unit. His body doesn't get as beat up during the season and he is a fresher, healthier man come playoff time.

Let younger guys battle in front of the net.

I dont think there is much of a difference in having Dupuis or Kunitz with Malkin and Hornqvist this season. I definitely do not want both on one line, they need to both play left wing, but if we do not acquire a top six early I don't think it makes much of a difference.

Kunitz just isn't the same crash the net player he was four/five years ago. I also think that given Malkin will have a brand new right wing, getting a comfortable partner in Kunitz will help him jump right back into things this season.

Dupuis looks healthy, conditioning the leg to game standards will take time, but I think at left wing with Sid you get 25-25= 50. Kapanen/Bennett/TradeOption at right wing could provide the extra bonus. Sid adjusts to game better than most people so I'm not worried about putting a young guy with him early. If Sid recognizes talent, he will work with it.

Duper-Crosby-Kapanen/Bennett
Kunitz-Malkin-Hornqvist
Spaling-Sutter-Downie
Sundqvist-Goc-Comeau

I'm also not sure how you leave off Sundqvist at this point. This isn't a kid. He's a man. Tough to play against, finds the dirty zones and hits them hard. If he can produce with Adams and Carcillo he can produce with Goc.

I agree. It's not in his DNA. The free agent market is terrible this year, so I can only imagine who we get to replace those guys.

I've always had an uncomfortable dislike of Gene Wilder. I must therefore thank you for allowing in my mind's eye the image of him pulling that sickening grin whilst a pyromancer build wearing a MotC sneaks up for the Dark Silver Tracer BS.

Edit: Someone please photoshop that. Please.

I love Gene, I always found his acting style endearing. Oddly, I could see him fitting the creepy vibe needed to do voice acting in DS.

EDIT: Also, totes just beat Gwyn for the first time last night, good times
