Interesting to see that the top two lines are:

Kunitz-Crosby-Hornqvist
Dupuis-Sutter-Downie

Can't imagine Kunitz and Hornqvist playing on the same line together so I think this is to see how Duper-Sutter-Downie mesh for third line purposes. Maybe a trade is in hand.

I kind of wanted to see Hornqvist on that line just to see what it looks like. And if Malkin were to miss the start of the season, I'd rather load up the top line and let things shake out from there, which would mean Kunitz/Crosby/Hornqvist.

Sorry I have to say it, Spalling, Goc and Comeau make a fantastic 4th line, I love the compete level even if advanced stats don't agree with me, my eyes like what they see.

going to be hard to leave Oskar off this team, I like that he is a big body guy that loves to be in front of the net. He has a good shot, lots of garbage goals.

The problem with advanced stats is people are looking for a short cut to thinking, and if you can quantify something that's equally subjective and objective then you can back up your conclusion with number, unfortunately it removes the objective element entirely.

Stupid decision when the odds weren't good that they were going to win the division anyway with Wainwright pitching for the Cards on the last day and then going to St. Louis for the tiebreaker with Locke pitching. Sometimes you have to concede for what's best for the postseason and Hurdle failed.

Of course it doesn't help that the Pirates bats haven't showed up. Bumgarner has been fantastic.

They threw 161 games out the window on game 162. It was a horrible mistake then, and now they look foolish. I think CH has done a great job with the Pirates, but this is a fatal error on his end. I also love how Nutting is already positioning himself in the media with the, we want to sign Martin talk...only to not resign him. Just trying to make it look like they will try. I hope I am wrong, but I don't see them paying Martin the money he will get.
