John Tavares:
Another great player who will not reap the rewards a man of his talent should have. Charles Dingdong and Garth Blow have done a great job so far.
Hope the new owners can continue him on the path of a Rick Nash career.
Immense talent on display for years with little playoff experience when he finally finds a worthy home later in his career and strangles his stick to death when the chance finally comes.

but to present the discussion that Charles Wang wasn’t negotiating in good faith without any of his suitors

there isnt a shred of truth to this, its just another Toronto-centric attempt to grab at Tavares. The leafs havent won in 50 years and arent any more closer to winning than the Islanders, despite all of their financial warewithal.
Why would Tavares or Stamkos for that matter go there? to be decried as a hometown failure? The problems that bedevil the Maple Leafs cannot and will not be solved by poaching a Tavares or a Stamkos and they both know this, Neither Tavares or a Stamkos want any part of that circus or the incumbent pressure of going home as a "Savior" until the Franchise is able to overcome its own Mediocrity.
Just as Lebron James learned, Going home is fine once youve won a title, but its pure folly trying to carry a disfunctional mess such as the Maple Leafs out of the Quagmire they have created with their ownership |

That's a lot of talk from a fan of a team that was run into the ground from Sakic's retirement until about a year ago. |

Bah....that's the normal 5 or 6 year cycle most teams go through. What's not normal is the teams that for the most the part remain competitive for years on end ( Deteoit, Philly, etc) and the teams that can manage to stretch sucking out for the better part of 2 decades ( Oilers, Islanders, Panthers). |

If it even is true that Tavares wasn't happy, you could kind of see why. He's entering the prime of his career and the Islanders have shown very little if no improvement in regards to roster moves & player development since his tenure with team . He's probably not a 100% sure & comfortable with what kind of direction the team is headed with the ownership issues and crappy management ( ie: Wang & Snow). Just for arguement sakes that he does ask for a trade....would the Islander faithful be very comfortable in letting Garth Snow handle it??!! I don't think Tavares is quite ready to give up that easily yet but how long will he be willing to put up with it if things stay the way they are? |

I think I'd pass on the Philly level of competitive....just saying....over the last 35 years, they've won just as often as those last three you mention....as in "zero" times....that "woo-hoo, we made the playoffs again" thing just doesn't cut it after a while. In fact, the "excellence in mediocrity" philosophy is the reason why when Milbury left, the Islanders franchise not only needed to be rebuilt, it needed to first be gutted, and then rebuilt. It has taken a lot of time, but at some point during the next couple of years (specifically, once they ditch their bad minor league coach), there's simply going to be too much young talent on this team for it not to be good- in fact, I'd say that the sooner the Isles AND Oilers fully address their defensive issues, the sooner it will happen for both of our teams. This nonsense about Tavares, to me, is just that- there are two underlying, very biased beliefs at work here that are behind the inane reasoning:
1. Everyone always wants to play for Toronto (this is ALWAYS the underlying Sirius XM angle, about any player)
2. Everyone MUST hate the idea of moving to Brooklyn (this is the angle of a small but vocal group of Islanders fans who would rather see a sh*t team that only costs them $19 for a ticket play in a decrepit dump that is only five minutes from their house- these people, I fear, would truly rather see them lose than move, which is about the most pathetic thing I've ever witnessed among fans of a sports franchise).
The first group is pretty self explanatory- the second one defies rational explanation of any kind. |

I moved to Nova Scotia to get away from Toronto. I can see why these guys would NEVER want to play / live there or even stop by to visit there dying grammas. Toronto is the most disgusting sh1thole I've ever been to which includes places like afganistan Guatemala, turkey and Detroit |

LOL Toronto is the cleanest city I've ever been to. You don't get out much do you? It's a hell of a lot cleaner than Halifax.
The cleanest, safest big city on N.America easily. |

Oh I have. I've lived in cities voted the best in the world.
And you may think Toronto is not clean, but my comment isn't ridiculous. "Toronto" and "Clean" are used constantly. For a big city it's very clean. And the crime stats speak for themselves.
I was responding to someone from the paradise of Nova Scotia calling Toronto the biggest poophole. |

Tavares is a franchise player. He'll stay on the Isles as long as they pay him his money.
That said, Kadri is ridiculously underrated. |
