That'd be funny if we signed Bryzgalov.

I would be ok with it but I would rather have kinkaid in there

Stupid comment.

Marty was phenomenal in his time and arguably the best goalie to ever have played in the NHL. The key word there is was . This is a professional sports team, one that hasn't made the playoffs in three years, not some interpersonal relationship. Changes had to be made. When it's time it's time. He sees himself as a starting goalie, and that is great and all but unfortunately, his current ability to perform just doesn't support that notion. If you don't understand that, that is your issue. But don't discount the respect that we have for the guy.

That's not what I said.

We aren't sick of him cause his play has declined, we're sick of him because he has a habit of acting like he's above the team.

If you feel bad that for him, give him a job on your team. It seems the rest of the league agrees with my assessment.

I'd rather Tim Thomas than Bryzgalov... But that's besides the point, as it will never happen... I've been a fan of the Devils since Chris Terreri was in net... I was in awe of Brodeur since he started. I played goaltender in roller hockey 10 years wearing #30. But we put our faith in Schneider. I hated the drama last year and I'd be sad if we had more. Talk about distracting. If Brodeur does come back, I hope he is humble and just plays. But I too have liked Kinkaid and think he deserves a shot. I dunno if he's ready but hopefully Schneider will be able to play a ton of games and we'll never have to worry about that. I have nothing but respect for Brodeur, And his sons are here. Either retire a Devil or accept the backup spot. I also hope he retires a Devil, not often a player only sticks with one team! And no one else could play like Brodeur in his long hayday, although I liked Hasek a lot too, even he didn't have as illustrious a career as Marty.

I think Hasek was the better goaltender, but his career was shorter and he played on some far pooptier teams than Marty.

Hasek sure was exciting to watch! I think its awesome he had a chance to play later than most players, had some crazy stretching techniques too, to be able to move like that

I said this months ago. The door with Marty is never closed. All he has ever had to do is call Lou and tell him he can handle being the back up and the jobs his.

I'd probably take Brodeur over Kinkaid or clemmer for 30-40 games, yes. But that's like asking if you'd rather drink your favorite beer for the next 9 months, but its a few months past it's expiration date, or drink nothing but keystone or natty lite for that same 9 months. Personally, I'll stick with my favorite beer (I've done it before it still tastes ok and I can't think of a better metaphor right now).

The reason I wouldn't want him back otherwise is he can't seem to keep his mouth shut and his presence is too much of a shadow over Corey. What happens if he has a stretch of bad games? Do they then go back to rotating the two? It's not fair to him when he's clearly the better goalie (him being Corey).

That was a great metaphor.

marty may still have some gas left in the tank, but you guys have one of the best young goalies in the league in schneider and bringing back marty would be revisiting the situation of last year where cory wanted to be the clear #1, and marty still wanted to play as many games as possible. Fact is, the devils don't need him and are arguably better off without him (remove all possibility of controversy)

your goaltending situation is perfectly solid without him, cory can play 65-70 games if he's given the opportunity and he should be this year. Still a big fan of him, great goaltender and as much as I love Halak, schneider was the guy I wanted the Isles to go after before the canucks traded him.

Apparently Edmonton went hard for him and even offered more so they where pissed off when we got him but I understand why with them being in the same conference so it's a win for us and I agree with what you said as well !
