Evander Kane is a 55 point winger right now when healthy.
- BINGO!

Yes, but he's also young and is a power forward who's not afraid to go anywhere on the ice. There's a big difference between a 55-point winger like Kane and a 55-point winger like the current Patrick Elias.

That's no where near the package that Chevy would want from Philly.. Try Read, Laughton, Coburn and a 1st.. If Nashville wouldn't take Vinny WPG won't. Hextall also has gone o record with 2 pts.. First, that the key to winning is to build through the draft and keep as many high picks as possible and he has said that none of his 19/20 yr olds are ready for the NHL. Second, he doesn't believe in free agency because it forces bad contracts and over payment. PHI won't need Kane bc Jake and G are so good they can play with anyone on their wing, and they have enough forward depth that can play multiple positions in the top and bottom 6. Yes they don't have an elite winger but, Hextall isn't going to gut the team for one either especially when they don't have the pieces in the system to fill those roster spots. It tough bc GMs aren't trading their young prospects and picks anymore and I doubt any will with this draft coming up..

Chevy will haveto look elsewhere. Not even close to fair value.Philly gets hosed in this deal. We are giving up a good dman a good two way forward a high prospect and a 1st in a loaded draft for a good LW... no thanks

Yes and no.

On one hand, yes, Kane is still refining his game. On the other hand, his production has seemed to plateau over the past 4 seasons. Certainly a top-6 forward, but by no means elite right now.

It's also worth noting that he has missed significant playing time in all but the lock-out shortened season.

Fine. But I didn't mention anything about his game progressing or his injury history. If he's a young, 55-point power forward, then that's exactly what he is. My point was that not all 55-point players are the same.

All true. He has plateaued and is very frustrating to watch. Sick of him flying down the wing and whipping a laser of a wrist shot right into the goalies glove from the top of the circle.

However his injury last year was from an injured hand he got in a fight sticking up for Sheifele. I think some teams would appreciate that kind of player.

Colin Wilson 2015 first round pick and a defensive prospect for Kane to the Nashville predators, would finally give us that legit first line we've never had and would make us way more competitive in our division, also Kane would fit in perfectly with our young team

I think he's a strong, talented, speedy forward. I also like the fact he can defend himself. We need guys like him in Montreal.

Oh for sure. I'm not saying he's a bad player at all. I'd gladly have him on the Canes.

That said, I worry that there are a lot of people out there who view him as a superstar winger. He's not. He's just a good, speedy, physical top-six player.

Agreed. I'd be happy to have him on the Canes. He just needs a team that will allow him to stick to playing his game and being who he is, rather than trying to make him into the superstar forward he isn't.

I could see the Leafs offering Lupul (can't access capgeek this morning to check movement clauses) and Reimer for Kane. Winnipeg would appear to win trade but Leafs / Randy would likely be happy to see them leave.

OK on Lupul. He can fill a top 6 role.

but why would Winnipeg want Reimer? He's 26, hasn't shown potential of being better than what he is.

I get the Jets might want a better Goalie, but why trade to get slightly better which is practically the same as being where they are?

Makes absolutely no sense.

At first I was going to say "If Lupul could get healthy this would be an ok deal" but Kane hasn't been the most durable guy either. Not a terrible offer but I think Winnipeg looks for a someone a bit younger than Lupul. Theyd have interest in JVR for sure, not sure if TO parts with him. Probably have to be something like:

Kane + Frolik/pick/prospect for Reimer + JVR

Yandle, Korpikoski, 2015 2nd

Phoenix is one of the only teams that I think needs Kane bad enough that they'd even give up that much for him.

Most that read that will probably laugh. The reality is more NHL GM's like the way I do, or he'd be traded by now. Don't get me wrong, Chevy is smart for holding onto him and making team's pay a hefty price. I wouldn't pay it myself, though. Not right now.

The next 2 years are really make or break for Evander Kane I think. He will either take that next step into a higher echelon of forwards, or he'll remain where he is.

I don't really want Kane but what would it cost the Leafs? I wouldn't give too much more than Kadri.
