McGinn Duchene - ROR
Landeskog Mackinnon Tanguay
Hishon Mitchell Briere
McLeod Talbot Bord
Lineup without Stastny or Free agents. Thoughts?? - bhawks_2588
We are going to get killed with a 4th line like that, just like last year. PAP would look great on that 3rd line.
MacKinnon isn't ready to fill Stastny's skates up the middle.
Can't have both McLeod and Bordelau, and preferably neither.
Perrault not being qualified by Anaheim, and can likely be had for cheap. That'd be a nice pickup.
And while we're at it, Ehrhoff please. |

I don't mind it but I like when McGinn is on the 3rd line and just plays top 6 when we have an Injury. Hishon will be on the monsters to start the season
I would hope to add a righty during ufa, a rw like vrbata is interesting, hemsky too, he showed he can produce when on a talented centers like while in Ottawa |

Agreed on PAP not fitting, but I think that was coach bias more than anything.
As for playoff prodiction, he shot 5.9%...over 7 games, a bit unlucky as I see it. Being played on the point for 5on4 when Barrie went down went a long way to make him look poor. I don't think we can put that on PA.
When he's on the ice we do better with shotshare and goal share/60 minutes. Giving that up for a guy who's passed his prime who shot 15% in the playoffs this year. Yikes. Better hope we make it that far to see that (imagined) return.
The cap flexibility. Ok sure, maybe...but this is no different than the Downie/Talbot deal for me. Just bad asset managment. - aschuter82
It does remind me of that trade too, felt like we under sold downies value, but Roy got the player he wanted in talbot. That trade worked out in the end but feel like we should have gotten more, the pap deal sort of feels like that too
But you're right, it's coaching trust in a player that resulted in this deal, I don't mind it though, feels like a safe trade to me

It'll all be ok if we somehow sign Stastny/ROR/Hemsky/Ehrhoff...a man can always dream right? |

Love getting a view from an Islanders fan to give the idea of PA's whole career. It is the players around him that make him, I.E. Duchene and Taveres... Who does Montreal have that can be that for him? - russdornisch
unless he plays top PP and top six minutes with the habs he's going to score less than 15 goals and 35 points. For 4 mil, I'd expect more from a forward |

Not bad of a trade. Avs needed a vet guy who can play different roles. Pap was good but could only play with some players. If anything goes wrong the avs can dump him at the next deadline. |

I would love to get all 4 under contract, that would be a solid offseason.
Also I agree we need to have bordy as the 13th/14th forward. We need to upgrade that line. I wouldn't mind Shawn Thornton for the 4th line rw |

I don't think the PK unit has time for Thornton's stupidity. |

I think Thornton has probably run his course as serviceable 4th liner at this point...but I'm not opposed to somebody like that with a bit less mileage. Can't really think of anyone of the top of my head...Winnik would be a good 4th line pickup. |

Sarcasm or stupidity? - Jebus_Price
No it's serious because the habs just got a guy that won't play a full season and has one if not two bad knees. |

here is what i would like to see
McGinn -Duchene - ROR
Landeskog -Mackinnon - bleakley (thats right the new kid)
botom six i dont really care to much about as long as they are defensively responsible
Hishon Mitchell Briere
McLeod Talbot Bord
E. Johnson- (ufa signing) Niskanen
Barrie - (ufa signing) willie mitchell
hejda - ryan wilson/guenin/holden/elliot
change up the dmen to what ever order you like but eitherway i hope we can get at least one of the two UFAs. |

Since becoming a full time NHL player:
GP 2010/11 - 81 of 82
GP 2011/12 - 80 of 82
GP 2012/13 - 48 of 48
GP 2013/14 - 55 of 82
Injuries happen sometimes man. No reason to think he isn't fully healthy, or that he is some type of injury case. |

I can't think of anyone off the top of my head either, but I would rather have brad Malone playing 4th line wing over bordy. He just can't be dressed for 82 games , start drawing him into line up based on situational match ups with other teams |

I'd be shocked if Bleakley makes the team let alone sticks around for 82 games this year.
Teenagers tend to get destroyed at the NHL level. Even MacKinnon last year took awhile to adjust, and was exposed often. Recipe for disaster. |

The trade doesn't excite me, but it isn't terrible. At least we have a very easy out after year 1 and more space for the big pieces. If he is going to be pushed to third line duties I really would have liked someone with a bit more size, but his playoff performances will have to be the bigger bonus.
I think Roy just wanted Parenteau gone and wanted to ensure his Frenchie ratio didn't take a hit. |

Malone wasn't tendered I don't think, so he's gone.

Fair enough i should have specified that i wanted to see this in pre season only. obviously only if roy thinks he is ready does he play full time |
