'sup Mo?

Don't know -- only watched the 1st period and then bits of the 2nd (when they collapsed giving up the 2 goals). Was at my own game so I had to try and catch up after getting home.

The tying goal doesn't happen -- and Kane doesn't get the chance for the GWG -- if Leddy doesn't come far down the wall to keep the puck in the zone, gets it low where it makes its way around to Rozy. Anyone that's played can tell you those are some of the toughest plays to make. Anyone thinking Leddy hasn't gotten a LOT stronger or is just dumb is wrong. Pretty smart and good play. And gave up nothing on the defensive side - the plays I saw, he moved the puck well to an open Hawk quickly. No hesitation.

I'm simply happy he's playing well and the Hawks knotted the series!

- savvyone-1

This stood out for me when I watched the NHL.com game highlights this morning, too. If Leddy doesn't do that, there are no Kaner OT heroics...

I have said it before and will say it again. In the biggest game of their professional lives, both Backes and Oshie were fighting for residence on a milk carton. The only forwards who didn't play like they were afraid of the moment in Canada-USA game were Kane, Pavelski, and Parise.
- Elbows15

I really can't blame Backes and Oshie for being awestruck around better talent. They wouldn't even have been invited to tryout for the Team Canada B Team.

Quite frankly a healthy team Canada adds Tavares and Stamkos and probably would select Giroux if it could do it all over again. Its stupid how much talent that team had

To reiterate - I love Seabs (in a fan/hockey player sort of way). You rightfully call Sharp Glue Guy and I think Seabs is one of the team's glue guys as well. He's a great teammate and player; and the deal with Backes doesn't change my opinion of him one bit. And I'm glad Brookbank and the rest of the d-men have had his back - I'm sure they want to go 3-0 without him to show they have his back.

They're a game away from doing just that

Hitch on Backes: "Hopefully he's able to get back before Seabrook or by Seabrook's time, so it doesn't turn into an advantage for Chicago."

On whether it would be wrong if Seabrook came back sooner, Hitch replied: "Yeah, selfishly from a St. Louis standpoint, yeah for sure."

Hitch on Toews slashing Petros stick "We were not thrilled by that & less thrilled when we saw it on tape today but what are u going to do?

Hitch cont'd: "Those are the tough ones that go against you. (The officials) didn't think it was significant." #stlblues

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. There are a million things that didn't get called both ways last night. Get over it loser.

Can you imagine if you took the last glazed donut away from Hitch. Geezus peace there'd be a lot rouge on the that twat's napkin.

The Hawks need to focus on the first 39 minutes of the game in a film review. Quick decisions and puck movement by the D-men on the dump. Good support all over the ice. Played as a 5 man unit with excellent gaps. Let's be honest here Phil. EVERY team in the playoffs will make a surge. The difference between teams is much closer than it was 15 years ago. Its really hard for one team to completely dominate another for 60 minutes. St. Louis got life and momentum from a PP goal. That is exactly what special teams are suppose to do. And as much as we dislike those bastards, they did finish the season ahead of the Hawks.

Good post 'Bows

Blues are a good team. This is probably the best Blues roster i've seen in a minute and as much i dislike Hitch, the phat phuck is an excellent coach.

The Hawks need to replicate their performance in the latter half of game 2 in Stl. They really started taking the body and creating turnovers, which led to chances. But the biggest thing....is they MUST stay out of the phucking penalty box. FFS.

Its unreal. I think they were the second least penalized team in the league. Playoffs and they turn into goons.

I thought the first 2 periods yesterday were their best in the playoffs, imo. Aside from the cluster(frank) in the last minute. And we need Sharp to get his head out of his ass. Yesterday.

And I wonder what percentages of Bickell's hits are on Pietro? He is hitting on him every shift it seems.

>Regarding Backes: Al reported that the injury is probably neck-related
>When it comes to player effectiveness, that can sometimes be much worse than a concussion
>Reason being -- the amount of head-turning and movement required to play hockey at it's highest level -- especially for a center -- hard to do it right if your neck is a mess
>Really enjoy hearing Hitch line up all his excuses for a series loss
>But the Hawks need to play their first full 60 tomorrow

- SnapitUpstairs

Great point. Not to mention any type of hit he takes could be painful. Just a little bunp. I really want Bickell to hit him hard AND cleanly on 1st shift. And every other shift. Everyone should take a piece of him

Blues have some unsavory a-holes so no shock the Hawks are a little more irritable and prone to penalties, but hopefully, they've got that out of their system and will zero in on playing smart and WINNING this series.

Never saw this coming with Sharp. Not sure what's going on with him. He was robbed TWICE point blank in Game 1 and he's obviously vanished off radar ever since. He does have an excellent track record of producing, so i'm hopeful we'll hear from him in a positive way sooner than later. Can't come soon enough though for him or us.

Smith is a smart player. Rozy is as well--very smart with the puck. Fortunately Rozy's brain works exponentially faster than his feet. He's been a solid add.
- grinder10

Rozsival's brain has been working faster than his feet for quite awhile.

He was a key last year and for a long run this time he will be needed.

Actually don't care in 80% of the board says Versteeg sits...I (if coach) play him.

Morin isn't as fast, as schooled in small areas and Morin's biggest weapon is a huge quick release from the periphery not a greasy area scorer.

Versteeg afraid of contact is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
(Almost as silly as Duncan Keith is unable to stop guys in front-remember that one? )

The guy was a defenseman, fearless and has a great stick.

I just don't get why this seems to be an issues since you and everyone know Q doesn't ever change line-ups after wins.

Please me I think Morin's gun could be an asset, but think back about which players he played with during his run...would he, in the playoffs, be playing with those two guys?
(I am not saying who they are b/c if you watched you know who they are..)

I just don't see who sits for him to play...obviously you think it would be simple transition for Saad and Shaw to take on Morin as there wing and he makes an easy transition and things move flawlessly on?

I just don't think Morin can instinctively do the things that the veteran Versteeg does, so there is an attack zone press and the guy in deep is still back up ice in coverage.

I am not gonna rip Morin, because he is a comer, and as Ben Smith did several years ago (THREE SEASON after he makes the team as a regular),Morin may get some ice if there is an injury or a if there is a loss where someone does need sitting. Versteeg has don little to earn banishment in my opinion.

I know many prefer seeing replacement even if guys aren't ready to take the reigns, as in the choirs of Teravainen no matter what opinions to gut the present team to make Cap room for HIM.

I just think your selling Versteeg short, and banking on a future being a present.

- wiz1901

I thought there was a decent chance Regin or Morin could play in Game 2 or 3.

Nothing changes now unless an injury or a bad loss.

My thought was Bollig would sit not Zus or Versteeg or Saad.

Rozy's been excellent in this series IMO. Great job to get a simple shot on net that B-29 was able to tip home. Keith and Leddy could learn something from Rozy. Simple wrist shots into the goal mouth area are far more effective than triple pump Nerf Gun clappers into shin pads.

I want to congratulate the Hawks for their fantastic finish last night. The UC was really rocking last night. I do have a couple of question: Why is Versteeg still on the ice? The second one is ...Why was not TT brought up to the Hawks with the other dozen or so IceHogs prospects. I thought TT was the new "Wonder Kind". Was he misbehaving in Rockford?

Weren't those two shots right into Miller's blue note?

When he's slumping, his shots are straight into the crest of the opposing goalie.

Think he tried to go 5-hole on one of them and deked on the other, but shot both right at Miller.

I love that they've been playing with some snarl. Bickell's hitting everybody.

Saad was throwing some hits last night too. I know that's not necessarily his game but would like to see him develop it.
