For all the praise Kane is getting for his huge OT goal this morning, he owed us that one for that bone-headed play near the end of the 2nd period that completely turned the game around in favor of St. Louis.

I liked Saad last night. You could see the extra effort in his attempts to drive to the net more. I have a feeling he will catch one of their D flat-footed and pot one soon.

- 67hawks

Kane tried to go up the glass to Toews and got under the puck. Saying it was boneheaded implies it was done on purpose. More unfortunate than anything.
I thought Saad was better late in the 3rd and OT than he was earlier in the game.

Backes is one of those guys like Cooke and Torres. Backes just likes to do his schit after the whistle or behind the play when nobody is watching. Constant dirty schit and sooner or later... you are gonna pay the bill. Could care less that Keith taunted him a bit. I will say this.. the Blues have a damn fine collection of ass hats on that team,, Backes, Lah-pair-ee-air, Jacka$$, Ott, Reeves

I want to hammer them in game 5. How bout a nice 5-1 thumping.

Lapierre would use the Excedrin as a suppository!
- paulr

Lapierre loves the rough going u til someopne of any magnitude challenges him...he has always been a torn type player (and a very good one) but is really not interested in really leaping...

I agree. But I think it would sting them a little more if Crawford could steal a road shutout... Gotta pour salt in the wound..

Despite Hitch's pre game three press conferences about the careless and dangerous ways of the Indianhead, Ryan Reeves in game three got babysat with an official almost holding his hand with each visit to the ice with warnings he was going into the penalty box if anything was puched any further.

I don't think kt was an acident he played less than six minutes yesterday...
Hitch is either knows he is a kinderkeg waiting to explode and hurt their cause,
he is injured, or
Hitch is waiting for the volcano to reach eruption point.

Anybidy think he plays only 6 minutes Friday?

Respect your viewpoint as always Mo.....but i had NO PROBLEM with Seabs' hit on Backes. Seabs is a clean player just trying to finish a hit like he's done a thousand times in his stellar career. The timing, in the game, was regrettable and i understand yourself and others take issue with Seabs on that play, but personally, i don't.
- philco28

I mostly agree with you, Phil. My point would be that Seabs put himself in the position to be placed on the Wheel of Justice. I won't hang him for that, but he did cross a line and took a risk in doing so.

Ogi wonders why no one is talking about Zeus today. Interesting...winning changes things
- Ogilthorpe2

Yup...everybody here wants to try to disect a team sport (where so many thing click for success to happen and so few for plays to go south) by seeing one aspect and make that THE reason for all ills...
Oh, I am sure we will be treated to far more calls for replacements form the press box because the Hawks on the ice just aren't trying.

Still clinging to the ridiculousness prior to TT arrival of dropping Brookbank to have room for him to play.

Eventually we all learn a little more about the pro game and post less disparaging garbage'.

Great series and what a game this was - again! Why can´t Kane play always like he was playing in overtime?

And quick look into future: Finland won Slovakia 3-0 today and Teuvo scored in his men´s national team debut. He also assisted one goal.

You don't think the playing time, weather at W or D, helped to keep him in game shape? I believe there was method to the madness of him playing wing some nights. You almost always need more than 6D in the playoffs. I credit Stan for finding a near perfect fit for his 7th D-man, and Q for keeping him ready to play both mentally and physically.
- Ogilthorpe2

Yeah, I agree. Brookbank has quicker steps and he is sharper in turns, to the corners, etc.

It is easy to coach from a hockey buzz board, but they made a point to make sure he never felt he wasn't an essential part of the mix, and that has truly worked in the favor of the fans and the team.

Let me ask - if Backes makes the same hit on Matt Cooke, how many games does he get?

You got it right about the Wheel of Justice - wherever it stops is the # of games a player is suspended for.

Q has more patience with Versteeg than any other player....He won't be scratched especially coming off two wins.

Kane wins Game 4 in OT 4-3 Kane/Toews back in form-Q pushes right buttons-Turnovers/mistakes Injuries??:Fox Chicago:http://bit.ly/1iin1na

>So right on Q with Steeger -- he's in the lineup on Friday for sure
>But it's time for Q to tell him that he MUST shoot the puck right away -- he has passed up a boatload of quality scoring chances for himself in search of the open net tap-in for a teammate -- this constant slowing of the game down is getting to be like a broken record and allows all of the Blues to get back into their zone -- Gretzky could do it and so can Kane -- but Steeger's success rate is far, far below theirs
>Net result is that Steeger has killed a TON of Ozone Hawk possessions this series
>He also needs to at least get his body in the way of a Blues player once in awhile
>Hawks MUST stay out of the penalty box
>The late in period Blues goals are a team mental hurdle that the leaders must address

Backes probably gets less (I am assuming he has no priors) because it is Cooke. The system is a damn joke. My point was mostly that Seabs took a risk when he put the hammer on Backes, but Brookbank has had his back, imo.

Bickell - Big Game
Kaner - Big game (looked faster too. He had a bit in his step)
Versteeg -Time for someone else (Morin). He was demoted to the 4th line-ish yesterday
Saad - Looks like he is a bit lost out there. Defensively looked good but not going to the net at all.

- droche7

Might want to watch the replay of Kane's game winner again. Saad and Smith both drove the net. Saad played his best game of the series last night. And I have been all over his ass.

And his rush in OT right before he waited patiently(probably learned that from Rozsival) and dished to Kane and then 88 hit the crossbar was a thing of beauty...That right there is just reacting naturally, and making a veteran play..kid is only 22!!! IF he keeps improving like this, in a few more years he will be a very VERY good dman

Seabs has 4 points in 2 games and is +1. He does pinch recklessly sometimes too no doubt, but Seabs >>>>> 17......24/7/365
- philco28

Pinches recklessly? Seabs just does it to get even with Keith. Yea yeah, I know I have a man crush on Seabs but its because he is so (frank)ing good. He has the best offensive instincts of any D-man on this team in the O-zone.
