Laughing at the ridiculousness of the newest Eklund post's comment boards. And watching my goalies getting hurt again in the Wings vs. Canucks. Gustavsson left dizzy and Howard was mauled over by two guys.

If he's coming back from a broken leg, why the heck would they put unneccessary stress on it by making him jump hurdles?

Does the Lightning medical staff even know what they are doing?!?!?

Marty will stay in Tampa until he retires from the game for a reason outside of hockey. His family loves the Tampa area, no need to uproot his family when he has a guarantee to continue with the Lightning until he feels he is done. He will continue to split time between Tampa and Vermont when he retires. Why I think he is disappointed in not being selected I don't think his relationship with Yzerman is non repairable if it hasn't already been mended by now.

Too bad Vinny's agent didn't do a similar type of deal a couple of years ago like Marty has or he would still be a Bolt. But I have to say I don't see where Vinny would fit in on this team. But Vinny will be a pillar in Tampa for many years as he too plans to move back to Tampa. Heck his parents are living in his home and he bought his sister a place down here as well.

Now Stamkos I hope he stays as well, I honestly think he will be the first 7yr - 10MM plus contract man under this new bargaining agreement before he hits the FA market at the end of 2016 for the Bolts.

Not after next season.

For the record, I can't see him leaving either.

Stamkos should stay in TB his career.. but then again, we thought people like Lecavelier, Iginla, Borque, etc.. would all stay with their respective clubs.. but, c'est le vie.

He shouldn't be going. Even if he plays he will not be up to speed. He should take the extra couple weeks to heal and practice to be back with Tbay fully recovered after the break.

And as for MSL; SY lobbied for him but its the rest of the coaching staff that did not put him on the team.

Just wondering how you know that he isn't ready? Truth is none of us do and frankly I don't think Steven knows either. Saturday (if he does in fact return) will go a long way to answering that question, but right now with only practice reports to go on noone can say for sure whether he is or isn't ready

Ideally I would rather him not go to Sochi and without a doubt be fully healed for the NHL stretch run and hopeful postseason, but that's me being a Lightning fan saying that. For Steven, if he is healthy enough to play, I truly feels he deserves the chance to represent Canada even though it brings risk for injuring himself again and potentially not being available for the Bolts post-olympics

Not according to SY. He said everything was a group decision.

This

I mean does anyone actually think Yzerman made the choice to keep his NHL captain off of his Olympic team? If you do then please give me some of what you're smoking b/c it must be good

That doesn't change my point. He's the General Manager. He has the power to stand up and say yea or nay. He didn't. Like you said, he let the group decide. What's done is done, but I don't agree with his approach on the St. Louis file.
- Michael_Stuart

At one point he even answered to someone in the media regarding this very point. He said that's not the way he handled the selection process. Sure he "could" have but it would have gone against the way he handled every aspect of the selection process before that time was at-hand. Yzerman is if anything consistent and his handling of the MSL situation just reinforces that

Most unlikely top line in @NHL today (based on draft status) belongs to @TBLightning: St.Louis/Johnson/Palat. 2 undrafteds + 7th rounder.

Stammer will still need a half dozen games to get in game mode. Let's finish off the trip tonight with a 4-1 win and then home for our only home games for a month.

I really hope he doesn't play for Canada this time around. Even if he technically CAN play...doesn't make it a good idea. Why rush him when we have such a deep pool of offensive players to take him spot that are 100% healthy and will have more than just a weeks worth of practice at that point? Obviously he's one of the elite player in the league, but I can't see anyone watching Crosby, Perry, Getzlaf, Tavares, Toews, Nash on a PP and say "Man, I wish we had Stamkos out there so we can score a goal..."
