Obviously hes not 100% coming off the injury and therefore he shouldnt go. Its unfortunate but his time will come to don the Canadian jersey. |

Voted no. He's not even fully recovered yet so why would he be 100% until Olympics? Does he deserve a place even if he's 70-80%? Maybe. Is it worth the risk of a new injury and the fact that he hasn't played a game in 3 months? I say no, especially on a stacked Canada team. |

Agreed. It's not like Canada is going from Stamkos to Tom Pyatt. Canada would be going from Stamkos to Giroux/St. Louis. A drop off, sure. But a massive drop off? No. Giroux at 100% is a safer bet than Stamkos at 70%, IMO. |

I find it very interesting Tampa Bay's GM is allowing a recovering Stamkos to be on the Canadien roster, and not including St. Louis. |

I don't think Stamkos being on the roster changes if SY isn't in charge. I'm still confused by the St. Louis snub, though. |

CBC hotstove mentioned Eric Staal as the front runner and that St. Louis hasn't been told about being a possible replacement |

The three names that I've heard most are Staal, Giroux, St. Louis. |

Really? They (cbc panel) said that Giroux wasn't even part of the conversation.
Tbh, I thought all three of those guys should have been on Team Canada from the start. |

If Stamkos can't go and SY doesn't tap Marty, I'll be interested to see what happens to the player-organization relationship. |

I'm real concerned about Stamkos playing so soon. Of course I don't know if he should or shouldn't but it just seems to soon. If he does play Sat. it would be nice if the Drs made a statement assuring us that the risk of additional injury to his leg was essentially zero.
Otoh I'm going to the game Sat so it would be great to see him back on the ice. |

No idea. Can't imagine that it'd be good, though.
I really have a hard time believing that Vinik is okay with his General Manager potentially ruining the relationship between organization and its all-time best player. This is why the Olympic people need to be external, IMO. |

Don't think that would happen, but there is no question Marty is po.
Stamkos did an interview over the weekend, I think for TSN, and he was asked about Marty's feelings about his snub. Stamkos was real careful in choosing his words but if you read between the lines it sounded like St. Louis was very upset with Yzerman. |

True, but St. Louis is a loyal guy and I don't believe he would leave. Besides, Yzerman controls where Marty goes, so he has him over a barrel! |

Not after next season.
For the record, I can't see him leaving either. |

If Marty acts out (which is VERY unlikely) he could just ship him back to Calgary. |
