Burke seems to of made his selections personal, you can tell with his reasoning, ripping players that weren't selected when questioned

The biggest reason I lean towards buying it is money...Yandle made more cash, JvR was signed to a cap friendly deal taking him into UFA years.

Other reasn is need. Phoenix has a slew of good defensemen, needed scoring.
