Nice write up. They really showed some spark after that fight. Simmonds PP goal was a thing of beauty. Go Flyers. |

"There was no decisive winner in the fight"?
You obviously didn't see the same video I seen. Rosehill won the fight. If you have to turn and get your coaches permission to fight then why are you even on the ice? |

...and with what would be the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs if the season ended today. - bmeltzer
I believe the 7th and 8th seeds are reserved for the wild card teams. Not sure what seed # the flyers would get but they would play Tampa in the first round...
I think? This new format is a bit confusing...

I don't post much, but avid reader of blog and comments. It's been a theme of a few that there's not balance scoring on this team. I beg to differ.
After last night, the Flyers now have 5 players w/ 10+ goals, and Hartnell + Vinny have 9 a piece.
Only Chicago, Boston, Phoenix, and Ottawa have more 10 goal scorers (6) than us.
Other teams with 5 you ask: Anaheim, Avs, Blues, Sharks, Mtl.
Considering the early season goal funk, I'd say we're spreading it around nicely.
Notice a few omissions? Pit (4), Wsh (4), Van (3) |

It was surmised that the training camp was bad. I think this had a lot to do with what we saw early on and perhaps homer goofed royally by opting to bring in laviolette for three games. |

Because when you're up 3-1 and in control of the game, it's moronic to do anything to give the opposing team any kind of momentum.
And it was a fairly even fight, slight edge to Rosehill. Both guys were throwing bombs and took their lumps. |

There's no question about it. Laviolette should have been fired last season. It took awhile, but Berube has the Flyers playing smart hockey and buying in. They still have weaknesses, but they have shown they can skate with and beat good teams. |

The "code" states that Tippet screwed up, but he was on the spot, then again, yeah, we did have a jolt of momentum after the fight, but I don't blame the coach, they did score on the breakaway, (bad line change), afterwards, so the momentum seemingly changed back & forth. |

they would still be a lot better with another defenseman, it would take a load off Mason, where he doesn't feel he has to win as many games on his own. |

I wasnt thrilled with berube at first but i gave him a chance nonetheless. If theres one thing theyre doing right upfront, its picking the appropriate candidate for headcpach at each change. |

They absolutely could use more mobility on the back end. Streit's finally starting to come around. He seems to have adjusted to the team and system and has played better at both ends.

Just me, but wasn't really impressed with Laughton for this tournament.
He was put into a defensive role but seemed to lack intensity more than anything. Which is what I most noticed with him during the brief stint with the Flyers.
Now before pitchforks come out, he could still be a solid player, but even as Captain of that team. I expected more.
Leier was invisible though. Nothing good to say there. Maybe ob or Bill will know, I have not seen too much of Sweden. How has Hagg looked? |
