wow, who saw this coming? - watsonnostaw
As the guy commented in the earlier blog, this Dudley signing is sure to make it more likely that Miller is desperately needed by some other team. |

I'm happy the Canadiens retained him. They need to build through the draft for the future and a guy like him assures you a above average chance to draft quality players. I wonder who the Sabres will settle on? |

Woah woah woah my Northern friend.....Settling isnt something that this regime has done....yet. I am glad that signing Rick Dudley to an extension makes you happy as a fan, but signing someone as a GM that isnt named Rick Dudley doesn't mean we are settling. If we promoted Kevin Devine, that would be settling. Settling is what Regier did.....alot.. There are still plenty of names out there that would be a solid signing. |

I know that in my profession I would want to be at the top. When someone doesn't want to go to an organization when a higher position is in order (no matter whether the money is the same or more) that's saying something. |

I think you took the word "Settle" a bit too seriously. Doubt it was a shot toward the organizations concern on getting the best GM for the team |

I thought about that after I hit submit. My apologies. This year has been draining so far.... |

Where in the transcript does it say that Bergevin did not let Dudley go? Dudley says he loves where he is at and doesn't care to elevate his title from Assistant GM to GM. Seems like an open and shut case here...... |

The Sabres asked to talk to Dudley about the GM job, the Habs didn't want to see him go so they bribed him with a big pay raise. Now, that isn't literally not letting Dudley go but they acted with big bucks not to let Dudley go. |

Bucky Gleason is going to be very disappointed about this news; can't wait to read his next column this weekend about how Darcy made such a mess that Dudley won't come here. |

They probably aren't paying him more to be their assistant than Buffalo would have to be GM. Is it really that hard to believe that maybe he just thinks he will be happier in Montreal? Maybe he has put work into this team in the last year building for the future and wants to see it out with his buddy MB? Or maybe, he just doesn't want the task of rebuilding Buffalo from scratch… |

If Montreal didn't let Buffalo talk to Dudley then that's a scumbag move because I seem to remember Toronto giving Montreal permission to do that very thing, and it wasn't for a GM job. I didn't see anything in Dudley's statement that suggests that's actually what happened though.
Garth, do you know something or is this just one of your epic overreactions? |

There was no guarantee that Dudley would have been hired as the Sabres GM, the Sabres just wanted to interview him for the job like others have been. He would have been a candidate, nothing more. |

C'mon now...
There's only one(or is it two) reason(s) Dud's is staying in Montreal instead of being the man, the GM... of his hometown team nonetheless

RANGER'S MCDONAGH INJURED - PRESSURE MOUNTING?
New York Rangers goalie Ryan McDonagh has been injured bloking a shot in
Tuesday's naights game.
UPDATE - Ryan McDonagh is a Defenseman.
If I were Sather, I'd be in the hunt for a rental goalie that can fill the shoes of back up goaltender Ryan McDonagh.
UPDATE - Ryan McDonagh is a Defenseman.
Sather need look no further than to his upstate peers for the anser: Ryan Miller.
Ryan Miller is a well known goalie. It is also well know n that Ryan Miller is a free agent after this season. Much the same way Angels get their wings every time a bell rings, so too do I post a blong regarding a possible trade incolving Ryan Miller to whatever team has an injury, whether it be a forward, defenseman, goalie...
Hell, should the Tampa Bay Lightning's front office secretary come down with a cold... they better get on the hotline to f*cking Buffalo because Ryan Miller will fill her shoes.
UPDATE - The Tampa Bay Lightning's team secretary is currently in good standing health.
I mean COME ON people! He's right here! USDA Choice Teriyaki! And in return, we ask your first rounder, your top scoring talent, a defenseman, and a goalie. Fair trade.
Here's a fun fact: Ryan Miller played in the olympics and won a silver medal. He was also MVP. He is still the best. Your team needs him. He's here. Ryan Miller. Olympic MVP. Number 30 in the blue and gold.
What's that you say? Ovechkin pulled a hamstring? Ryan Miller.
Sidney Crosby has a concussion? Ryan Miller.
Kyle Okposo tweaked his nkee? Ryan Miller.
Coyote's might relocate? Ryan Miller.
Patrick Kane is from Buffalo? Ryan Miller.
Patrick Roy was a goalie. Ryan Miller.
Wayne Gretzky retired? Ryan Miller.
More to come. But not really. Maybe. Green roller skates.

he's 65 years old. he's with a team that is already 2 years into its transition/rebuild. he was a GM once before and it didn't go well. he's always been a behind-the-scenes personnel guy. had he jumped to Buffalo, would have been his 4th team in 4 years. don't think this says anything negative about the man. |

Trade Ryan Miller now. Sell him to the highest bidder. In exchange for a top six scoring forward and a first round draft choice.
There's your problem Garf... there is nobody offering close to that!
Is Miller a good goalie?... yes.
Are there teams in need of a better Goalie?... Yes.
Are those teams looking to win now?... No.
Are those teams willing to give up a first rounder for a rental?... No
Will he get traded before xmas?... No
Will he get traded this year?... Maybe
Will he get traded at the draft for negotiating rights?... probably
There... now you don't have to write ANOTHER blog about Miller getting traded for some lofty package. (And to a team that already has 1 or 2 quality starters like LA, SJ, ANA, STL, COL, etc) |
