My bad, I totally forgot about Nurse, I was thinking Yakupov was their last pick. He looks like a force, and Klefbom should be good too. My mind is half not working today. So Nurse, Schultz, Klefbom, Petry, Musil/Marincin is a really good young group. I wanted Schultz on the Rangers in the worst way.

Watch the games son, he is not a defensively sound player and it isn`t a function of experience, it seems to be conscious mental decisions to not skate, to not put forth the effort. I really like Yakupov actually, he is an electrifying player at times.

I also can recognize value when I see it though, and I manage risk all day long. At this particular moment in time the downside risk of Yakupov is MUCH higher than the upside.

When making decisions (in life, finance, and everywhere else) unsuccessful people always look at the two POSITIVE outcomes of that decision. Successful people look at the two NEGATIVE outcomes...and choose the least negative.

I think I would make a pretty good GM actually, but I`m not willing to drop so many payscales.

A swap of under performing snipers with loads of potential... EDM gets their goalie... and Philly gets ? (maybe a 2nd and 3rd round pick or pick and prospect).

The whole purpose to trade for Yaks is to find Giroux a sniper wingman. Trading Giroux defeats the purpose of the trade for Yaks in the first place.

The Flyers have one to many good defenseman (I said good not great). Any trade would have to have a defenseman leaving.

Please stop with the Miller to Anaheim garbage. He's not that much of an upgrade on Jonas Hiller and Freddie Anderson has been awesome. The Ducks don't need Ryan Miller. They need a top pairing defenseman. Any team want to trade one of those?

What if someone else had something the ducks wanted in exchange for Hiller....and knowing that Miller is on the market, they could trade away Hiller?
I suspect that's where these rumors are coming from, rather than "because Miller wants to go there."
Don't think I've ever heard of a trade happening because a player said "trade me there."

it's just that the oilers need some of those kids to step in sooner rather than later.
or trade assets for other guys while we're waiting.

i think oilers management really hoped we could patchwork a decent defensive group that would keep us competitive while we waited for those kids to develop.

exactly.....as disapointing as Giroux has been...people need to get a grip...we are 14 games into a season...yes they need to probably do something.....but trade your franchise player? um ... no.

Simmonds plays similar to Hartnell an Downie. He would be missed but expendable for the right Trade. He seems to have plateaued a bit.

Coburn is a good well rounded defenseman, with occasional turnovers, etc... Again missed but expendable.

As for Yak, I haven't seen him play much. Obviously, he's offensive. I worry about his defensive play (not really whether he sucks or not, more along the lines of his interest in playing defensively). The other issue is that he's Russian, for some reason, Russians and the Flyers don't mix.

I really don't see any realistic scenario (barring some massive blockbuster that blows up the team) where mact trades hall or the nuge, so it'd most likely be one of the two rw's in ebs or yaks.

byfuglien, bogosian, staal, mcdonagh, Coburn, ehrhoff etc. etc.would all be targets depending on the package.
