No doubt but I bet you that either of their 2 Retard goons can't knock him out.

Come on now, Kessel's a pretty smart guy.

They are both goons (frank) em. We are soft as tissue paper so they will probably goon someone on our team.
- NickA

I don't care about that. I mean what ever makes them happy. Just don't come in here saying a guy we haven't played once this year should get beat and shouldn't be in the league when neither one of Orr/ McLaren are any better at the game of hockey and if they are it is by such a small margin that there is no point mentioning it. I mean Orr has 24 points and over 100 more games then Cam and Cam has 12 points. These are Career totals. To me that says neither deserve to play in the greatest hockey league in the world.

I think they are there so guys like Kadri and Bolland can do something stupid and not have to answer for it. Why would you need Orr and McLaren (who likely only hasn't been in every game due to an injury suffered in pre season) Clarkson, Fraser (also injured). I realize that Phaneuf is a wussy and likely Bolland as well but 4-5 guys to protect you're stars ? are you paranoid? Maybe you need one of Orr/McLaren but certainly not both and certainly not when Fraser is back. To me you guys are just looking to start poop and call everyone else in the league rats.
- blizzzard

Clarkson adds size, leadership and net presence to the top-6, and has played pretty well defensively as well. Not there in an enforcer role.

Fraser played very well for the Leafs last season... sure he fought, but he's also developed into a very strong shutdown d-man.

Call Phaneuf a wussy all you want, but there's no reason for the team's top d-man to engage in a fight with scrubs.

Burke/Nonis/Carlyle want(ed) a tougher team. The heavyweights were brought in to let the more skilled players know they can get away with more, no doubt... but these guys aren't targetting stars, either.

Not like Jansen on Kaberle, Scott on Eriksson, or(looking at the Leafs) Bell on Alfredsson.

I am saying there are enough guys who can play the game on the roster who also can drop the gloves that you only need one of Orr/McLaren. Clarkson can handle most situations that will come about. The Leafs bring these additional situations on themselves by dressing those guys. Most teams are going to bring in another guy when they play them for their own teams good and then you have fights going on that are only happening because said players think that's what they need to do not because of an incident on the ice. More so a " hey I am out here and so are you. Wanna go ?"

I know thats why Cam is up to play them and the flyers. This guy doesn't get that it's his team has the goons.

Leafs cut down on that big time... Only "staged fight" I can think of so far this year was in game 1- Orr VS Parros... and I don't think Orr's fought since.

In fact, if you look at the last time a goon targetted a Leaf's star, it was in the preseason, when Orr/Fraser/Maclaren weren't dressed.

Our guys aren't targetting stars- that's my point. Jansen on the other hand, has a history... and I hope he gets taken out of a game before he does it again.

that's some groundbreaking stuff there.

It might have to do with the goon that took out one of the Leafs' best players a few seasons back coming back up.

Might have something to do with the Leafs' next game being against NJ.

Might have something to do with this being a hockey site, and these threads being meant for all fans to chat in.

But no, it's probably the non-nonsensical thing you posted.

If you get hit as late as Kaberle did and couldn't see and or hear him chugging you're way I highly question if that player belongs in the NHL himself.

Also that was how many years ago ? Orr ran Ovechkin very very late as well so should I hope he gets folded like a lawn chair again? Or because he plays for the leafs now that doesn't count ? Orr can change but Janssen can't? That's rich, I'm also sure McLaren has probably laid a questionable hit to but I am not going to go look it up because he is a Leaf now and has changed.

Hmm... so let me get this straight, you're saying a 4-time all star defenseman, who averaged more points a season than any Devil is likely to get this year didn't belong in the NHL, but AHL fodder and goon Cam Jansen does?

Come on, you can't compare Orr's hit on OV to Cam's on Kaberle.

Janssen didn't really look like a changed man going after Conacher last season, did he now?

Let me guess you probably thought Domi was a pretty sweet dude and belonged in the league and never did anything cheap either ? but he cheap shot Neidermayer. Maybe you heard of him ? you know he only Accomplished more then any leaf in the last 20-30 years. I willing to bet you thought Domi was a god.

Neither of them belong in the league but why would we not dress him against you guys. If the leafs had announced neither Orr or McLaren would be in the line up vs the Devils then Janssen likely isn't even called up. Look at our roster and tell me who Orr and McLaren would be protecting the rest of the Leafs from ?

Domi was dirty... but at least he could play hockey.

He's also irrelevant to this discussion, but I guess you know you don't have a point, so you gotta go with the irrelevant stuff.

Again, Orr and McLaren can actually take shifts in hockey games without being liabilities. They can play NHL hockey, and they get to play because of it.

Outside of a stint recovering from a near career-ending injury, Orr hasn't played in the AHL since he broke into the league.

Cam Janssen on the other hand has never played a full season, because his teams don't trust him to play regular shifts.

This kind of crap:
“But you wanna be scary. You wanna put the fear of f***in’ God in people’s eyes, and not just, ‘Oh, I’m gonna beat you up’ — no, ‘I’m gonna catch you with your f***in’ head down and hurt you because you’re not gonna know I’m comin’ because I know how to hit.’ Fighting guys is one thing because I know, ‘Oh, I won’t fight you. I’ll just turtle.’ Whatever. But if you have the puck and you know how to hit and you can hurt guys with hits like I know how to do, that’s what puts the fear of God into people.”‘

Is the reason he doesn't belong in the NHL. He can't skate, and he can barely fight. His role isn't to defend his teammates, it's to try and take somebody's head off.
