No doubt he actually probably cost us Barkov or Seth. He came in Calgary, in a bad situation & played pretty friggin decent during a dire situation the Flames hadn't been in for a long long time because Kipper rarely got injured. I think there are a lot of reasons why Burke was brought in. Feaster is doing a lot of good things, but he's made some real stupid decisions. Giving Babchuk a 2 year 5.0mill deal & then having a coach who healthy scratched him most nights, the ROR offer sheet, the stupid 2 year contract he gave Sarich when he was already a healthy scratch on many nights. He traded for Ramo (the best goalie not in the NHL) & then our biggest trade asset in JBO, a big part of the return was a goalie. So he signs a veteran career backup goalie so there is no room for his 2 prize acquisitions. Follow the domino, that then sets back your best 2 goalie prospects in Ortio & Brossoit. Both players coming in ready to start their pro careers & need as many AHL starts as possible. Suddenly, that Joey Mac signing means Berra takes up these kids AHL starts & one of them has to play in Alaska. Now I get it, who wants to start the year with 2 unproven goalies? Most teams, that would be a career ending decision but the Flames just did a fire sale on its Vets & core & has declared a full rebuild. This season has a get out of jail free card attached to it.
I'm not bashing Feaster, I love what he has done on things & how he's built the new management team. The drafting has been very refreshing & getting excited about young future players has been something I have wanted for years. But it's little stupid decisions that tells me sometimes he loses sight of where the ship is heading. JMO. Personally, nothing against Joey Mac, super guy & not a bad career backup goalie, but if he clears waivers, the Flames should consider buying him out before sending him to Abbey. Ortio & Brossoit should be manning the nets down there & getting their pro careers started properly. - Kevin R
I agree with most of that. One thing I will say is I'm glad Calgary ended up 6th and picked Monahan. |

Maybe I've had to much CRB but I wouldn't trade Monahan for any of the five that went a head of him. And yes it's easy to say now but fck the kid is a stud! |

Love Monahan
Jones has been really good tho
Mackinnon gets his points too
The other 3 will be good I'm sure but I think these 3 will end up as better players |

I just hope Hartley is smart enough not to throw Berra in tonight - whipper334

C'mon dude! There's a reason he's been a career back up. Your assessment is juvenile. Now kindly fck off! - whipper334
How is that assessment juvenile? You're juvenile. You swear at people in your posts. What does being a career back-up have to do with me not wanting him around playing the majority of games? If anything that statement agrees with what I said. |

Imagine how close the Flames came to gioving up Monahan for ROR. OR WORSE giving hime up for literally nothing. I'm sure if Roy was in charge when Feaster made that offer the Avs wouldn't have matched.

Fck off with the ROR offer sheet! The Avs as well as every other team didn't know about that rule! So easy to arm chair it like you knew... Oh wait you did know?
And if the Avs knew no way would they of matched! |

Well the Flames were the one who were most at risk to the offer sheet rules so they should have made it their business to know what the rules are. Managers in other industries can get fired for that kind of mistake. Even if you take away that rule that the Flames didn't know about Feaster still essentially tried to trade Monahan for ROR. Is that really something you would want to do now? |

I though he was just trying to get his balance after falling to his knees,... then I watched the replay. Hope Matty feels shame.

Thought the first penalty was weak ( considering only one call all game ) and then the second just hurts more cuz of it

I know it's only one game, but I said back at training camp that in the end, Berra was gonna prove to be the guy, and I'm still feeling that way. He's quick and his lateral movement is leaps and bounds ahead of Ramo. |

It just reconfirms that we need to run with Berra & Ramo for the rest of the year. I had a bit of a feeling Berra was going to outshine Ramo after the World Championships. Nice win. |

You know Whip, I agree, it didn't happen why get worked up about it, kind of no different than, Brad Richards signed with the Rangers not us, so don't worry about that mega contract he put out there for him. Yeah, Avs were retarded too, if they knew they would have put the word out in the MSM that they weren't worried about anyone being stupid about offer sheeting him because of the waiver rule. They didn't, & they probably could have signed him for much less. Thing is, the Avs GM last year is no longer employed. I don't think Edwards totally trust Feaster & that's why Burke was brought in. Just saying. There is definitely going to be an interesting dynamic when there is expectations for the Flames again that's for sure.
You think Burke is not a fan of Backlund as well? Maybe Backlund to Toronto for Gardiner & a 1st? Sure would solve Toronto's problems, because we are sure wasting Backlunds excellent Corsi numbers on that 4th (frank)ing line! |

Wow Backlund for Gardiner AND a first?
good luck getting any arm chair Toronto GM to agree that's fair value. |
