If the cost is Yakupov, no interest in Anderson. Understandably, Oilers fans will believe a good team when they see it, and I don't think they'll invest in a veteran goalie like that until it's clear he'd be around once we got good.

i think his not wanting to go there has alot to do with the distance of the move for a short period of time to a team that has little to no more of a chance at winning the cup.

To play devil's advocate, maybe he sees where he could fit in Edmonton's future, or needs a fresh start, or likes the contract he'd get from them. After all, there's no way anyone is going to acquire Miller without a strong indication that he'd sign with them.

But again, we want no part of players that want no part of us, and my oilers compatriot is probably a little testy because the Edmonton slagging by players is a self-fulfilling prophecy that is the direct cause of the decline of our franchise. It sucks to be written off because of a PR problem, and given that Miller has more globally rejected Canada, it adds little to the conversation to specify Edmonton.

My allegiance is to the Oilers, so I could care less who likes or doesn't like the city of Edmonton, but insofar as it impacts the team it gets a little tired to hear again and again how Edmonton is siberia. It's a given now that people wanting to play in Edmonton is an exception to the rule.

This article suggests at least a possibility that small market Canadian teams could begin to level the playing field.
