Looks like some improvements are taking place. Mason continues to play very well.

Rosehill and Rinaldo spend more time in the box, than on the ice. Rinaldo taking one dumb penalty after another. Let's see some accountability.

Rinaldo running around hitting everyone was cute for a while, the novelty of it has worn off. Put in place a 4th line that can show some puck possession.

The 4th line should be Talbot/Hall/Raffl

We've had Meszaros being a hair away from being traded for the better part of what... 4-5 months now? My money's on TDL at the earliest, if at all.

If Pavel Kubina is worth a second round pick at the TDL, just think what Meszaros will be worth!

Rinaldo brings energy, but it's often channeled incorrectly. He will never get the benefit of the doubt from the officials. Sometimes it's 2 minutes for being Zac Rinaldo. Majority of the time it's him being dumb.

1985 -- April 11 -- In Game 2, Pelle Lindbergh made 38 saves and Todd Bergen scored twice in a 3-1 win. Bergen tied the score in the second period and notched the go-ahead tally in the third period. There was a bench-cleaing brawl at the end of the second period and 88 PIMs in the game. New York Daily News writer Frank Brown penned "The Flyers spent the night sending strong, eager, healthy bodies over the boards for every shift. The Rangers replied largely with cripples, midgets and pacifists."

I loved the signing and I don't mind Streit at all either. but I do think it will probably end up being similar to the Briere situation. Like it now but in the final year or two we may wish there was still a compliance buyout or two laying around
- nastyflyergirl

They could always buy out the last 2 years if needed. He's owed $9.75M those final 2 years. The buyout amount is 2/3 of that, $6.5M. Taken over twice the remaining length gives you a cap hit of $1.625M for 4 years. Just a thought.

Nobody since Tie Domi has ramped up the energy in the penalty box the way Rinaldo does. #gamechanger

I had really hoped he turned a corner last season, but he's been as undisciplined as ever over the first ten games.

Have to put in place a 4th line that can contribute 8-10 minutes a game, without leaving the team shorthanded constantly. No better way to run players into the ground more than having a 4th line playing 3-4 minutes a game.

Looks like Meszaros back in (paired with Timonen) and Gustafsson a healthy scratch tomorrow, based on pairings at practice today.

All forward combos the same. Tough to say whether Hall or Rosehill will be the healthy scratch, as they have both rotated in and out of line rushes.

so guys, what's up in philly... i haven't seen them play yet this year, are they as bad as the record indicates? is it a slow start, or are there problems?
whats the story with timonen, giroux, read, simmonds and voracek?

Yep...Rinaldo was playing 8-10 minutes a night last season, and looking like he turned a corner, but this year he's been a mess.

Bad start under Laviolette kind of snowballed, and they were really all pressing too hard to score. Berube's come in and installed a different approach, and they've played better team defense, but the offense has been hit or miss...there's signs there's a turnaound coming, but it's been slow coming.

Yeah. Things look better defensively though. Hopefully the 5 goal barrage gives them some confidence. It's very difficult winning games scoring two goals or less.

Only two teams in the East have allowed less goals than the Flyers have. If that trend continues, and they pick up the scoring team should be in good shape.

There are a lot of ways, and a lot of reasons, to lose hockey games.

One of them should never be because one or more of your players is going to do something stupid at any given moment on the ice, and you and everybody around you knows it.

That's the key, finding a happy medium. If Mason continues to play at or close to the current level, it will go a long way to helping matters.

Like Rosehill fighting Boulton on Saturday. Why?

Flyers are cruising along, dominating play and leading 2-0. Why oblige and give them something to rally around? Okposo scored a few minutes later and made it a whole new game for awhile.

Only good thing about that is that the Isles had just corralled a turnover and were heading in on an odd man opportunity.

Mason has been unbelievable. Sure it's only a 15 game sample, but I love what I have seen.

The cynic in me has in the back of my mind that he plays well all season, gets rewarded with a good sized contract and reverts back to Columbus form. I'm trying to block that out of my head.

I'm no fan of rosehill being in the lineup and I am one of the people who female doges non stop about wanting a better 4th line but that said, I did think that fight wasn't Boulton challenging Rosehill but rather Rosehill coming in to defend Rinaldo. Necessary? no, but not a "staged" situation where Boutlon challenged Rosehill per se
