Harvey Bennett. Banner day in Flyers history

The Ducks are a real test for the Flyers....they're going great right now, and they're also capable of gritting out ugly wins. The Flyers will need their best effort to beat them...and even then, they'll need good fortune and no breakdowns

A couple guys hurt on the ducks and in the middle of a long road trip for them...going to need thier legs and continue the effor tthat they gave on Sat to stay with them...it was a good sign to see them shut down the Islanders PP...i also like the line combos the Chief put together..seems to be clicking a bit more...

Agree, they were better Sat, but they were brutal before that!

* The most lopsided 20 minutes of hockey I have watched this season was NOT the Penguins running roughshod over the Flyers in the second period of their game on Oct 17. Instead, it was the Ducks even more complete domination of the Dallas Stars in the second period of their game three nights later.

I can't even comprehend that, because I had never seen a Flyers team get dominated like that in a period before.

A chance to watch Teemu is always great, one of my favorite players.
Also looking forward to seeing the Ducks two young Scandanavian defenseman.
Too bad Sbisa is hurt.

First wish, another Flyers win.
Second wish, for Cory Perry to get Rinaldo'd

On this date in 1977, the Flyers traded Blake Dunlap and a third-round 1978 pick (Gordie Salt) to the Minnesota North Stars, receiving Harvey Bennett in return.

I think that's Blake Dunlop, who was a decent player for St. Louis at one point.

And who can forget the immortal Harvey Bennett?

Yeah, I'm bummed I had to move my tix. Would be nice to see him again.
Hey, maybe he'll play a few more games in Philly around June.

He's always been one of my favorite non-Flyers.

It's probably helped by the fact that he doesn't play in the Eastern Conference and hasn't completely torched the Flyers.

As of the end of last night's games around the NHL, the Flyers have given up the fewest goals (27) of any team in the Metropolitan Division. On a league-wide basis, they rank 7th defensively. The improved team defense and the strong goaltending of Steve Mason are the biggest reason why I think the Flyers' have been better than their record suggests.

If the team hadn't been off to their worst goal-scoring start in franchise history -- even with the five-goal outburst on Saturday, they've still only scored 1.80 goals per game -- people would be singing a different tune about this team.

The most encouraging thing I took away from Saturday's game is that they could push the tempo offensively and actually score some goals for a change, yet they didn't have to sacrifice defensive responsibility to do it.

Aren't the Ducks missing a few key players due to recent injuries?

It's amazing what happens when the forwards backcheck and there is a transition game.

I can, but you have to go pretty far back:
Montreal had some periods against us like that in the late 70s
there was also the playoff game against Buffalo in 01 and ofcourse the blowout in 06 also against the Sabres that cost Hitch and Clarke their jobs.

Yes... fixed the typo. Harvey is best known as Curt's brother.
