I'd like Big Buff, and Phaneuf as a UFA. I know they both have their deficiencies, but god damn those 2 would make a terrifying pairing
- JAKEw1234

Not crazy about Phaneuf, but wouldn't be upset if the Flyers went after him. Zero interest in Byfuglien on any level.

Off-topic, but best line from Chip Kelly following the loss:

"We're not going to do something new."

I'm thinking that's because he's not really what you'd call a "good" or "adaptable" coach.

Yeah let's expect him to perform miracles out of the gate, if you expected big things in that way the joke is on you.

Well when "Let's run 3 plays in 35 seconds and punt" becomes the norm, you'd hope that maybe he'd attempt to deviate a bit instead of just doing the same thing drive after drive. He had a gimmick, and now the gimmick has been compromised. A good coach can actually manage the game. He doesn't seem to have any idea of how to do that.

I didn't expect them to do better than 6-10, but I expected them to at least score a few points here and there, especially in their 2 biggest games of the year.

It's a work in progress, patience is required..... I know look at the fan base I'm suggesting it towards.

I'm fine with the team not winning due to being outcoached or not having as much talent as the opposition, that's fine. But doing the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Again, I understand it's a work in progress, but I just am a bit surprised that the offense has scored 3 points in the last 10 quarters, and he says they're not going to try anything new. You'd think he'd try SOMETHING different. Heck, the iron-fisted Laviolette did when his blueline got decimated, maybe with a rookie QB likely to start, Kelly would think about changing some things up.

Rangers' Pouliot "illegal check to the head." I know the Talbot one was more on Talbot than anything, but I'm going with pure goon.

i totally dislike both players. my distaste for phaneuf is so extreme that I might not be able to watch the flyers for a bit until i could adjust... maybe i could take up drinking as a coping mechanism... I dunno.

Hey, if we had him and Byfuglien on one pair, I think their play would help you cope. Sure, Buff has work ethic and weight questions. And sure, Phaneuf is known as a douche and maybe even a locker room cancer, as well as a player who is widely hated by all Flyers and Flyers fans. But they're both big, decently speedy, crushing Dmen with tons of offensive upside. Put those two on one pairing and it's seriously a dream pairing of mine. I think it'd be one of the most dominant pairings in the league. Too bad it'd just a pipe dream of mine and a nightmare of others.

Rangers lose, meaning we overtake them in the rankings. We're taking baby steps to the top, people.

Last I heard he's still having symptoms. They came back pretty strong towards the end of camp and he went to Michigan to see a specialist

That sucks. He should seriously just hang them up when his contracts run out. No sense ending up like Jim mcMahon.

Yeah, did you just read that story on him on SI?

He is still not symptom free; good days and bad days. He has gone to Michigan to see a different concussion specialist and continue his rehab work there.

I hadn't seen that one. I'll read when I have more time. I saw a special on him more than a year ago and he couldn't remember what he did a few moments ago. He was like a prisoner in his own mind but he was still there. I'm almost afraid to read the article to see how bad it's gotten. He was one of my favorite players, and if not for the frigging cheap shot that busted his shoulder the Eagles have a ring. That D was awesome.

It rehashes that story, but yeah, Jimmy's in bad shape...not just with the concussions, but also the rest of his body. He's a wreck

If anybody hasn't watched, Laughton was a little pissed during Friday's game.

Surprising, the guy he fought was actually older than Laughton, so that's good. I was waiting to see he was beating the crap out of some 17 year old.

Regardless, I'm excited to see Laughton in the Orange and Black much sooner than later.

I feel bad for Scuderi, but you'll have to remind me later to shed a tear for the Pens.

Of course, he'll be back mid to late winter for the push to the playoffs.

Frank is the d-bag that sat in my son's seat during the first period intermission one game (2 years ago), and then wouldn't get up when my son came back from the refreshment stand. He ignored my first request to vacate the seat, then responded with "I'll only be here a little longer" to my second request. At that point I stood up and said he had to get up now, and finish his convo somewhere else. He gave me the "don't you know who I am?" look, but didn't actually say it. I just stated at him until he left. For a second I thought I was going to have to physically remove him from the seat.

I would have also complained to the Flyers about it (especially, if you're a STH and are given a specific account rep to complain to). Writers get press passes to the game and I'm pretty sure they get fed during the game for free.

We don't even get fed for free when they are kissing our asses after the owners lock out the players!

Prediction: If the Flyers were to get Dion Phaneuf.....the first time he lit up Sidney Crosby, Phaneuf would go to "immediate fan favorite" almost instantaneously.

But you can get an undercooked hot dog on a soggy bun (or rock hard bun, whichever you prefer) on dollar dog night.
